The fitness of John McGrath and Seamie will have relatively little bearing on our prospects this year. Both are nice to have for the final 10/15 minutes but John is a shadow of the player he was and Seamie doesn't have the legs anymore.
Neither will start next weekend.
And who do you think/expect to knock LK out of the championship?
Sure they are the obvious venues if they don't do a double header in Croke park.Id imagine there would be a big crowd in Limerick ,with a few thousand neutrals thrown in,and Clare will bring g a good crowd to Thurles too. Will they be on at the same time?
Cork is now back on the table as the GAA have confirmed that the football is to be played over the two days, Saturday and Sunday, rather than just on the Saturday.
So they can still host a hurling QF if they want (and they do).
How old is John McGrath ? I know he has been very unlucky with injuries but he’s a great bit of stuff if ye could get him back anywhere near his top level.
29 next month.
He was never rapid, probably middle of the pack in terms of speed, but if you watch him now, it's like he moves in slow motion. He was outstanding for us for long enough - I have plenty of respect for him but he made it off the bench for a minute against Limerick to take the free and that's about where I'd see him in terms of our squad this year. And that's with us having a whole host of long term injuries. You have to be ruthless when it comes to players not being at the level they were, or you'll get left behind, even if they were great servents.
True and no better man than Liam Cahill to make the big calls but I think Tipp are the dark horse in this championship and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if John McGrath made a big contribution in some way, still very dangerous coming off the bench for the last 15 minutes of a game.
I would fancy tipp in if fully fit , there was nothing between the sides in munster and jason forde and callinan are back , i fancy tipperary next week against galway , the manner and nature of that defeat to kilkenny is bound to knock the stuffing out of them a bit i think ,
i wouldnt be putting the house and car on clare to beat dublin next week either , they have developed in to a very efficient and solid hurling team , even if we do win our record against the cats is poor , we simply cant afford any more injuries especially in the full back line ,
Looks like - 6 pm next Saturday evening - Gaelic Grounds
Big game against Galway. They've won the last two times in championship against us. Last time in a quarter final in the Gaelic Grounds.
Both teams looking to put together a 70 minute performance to light their season up. Galway losing a final by a last minute goal. Tipp a complete non-performance against Waterford.
Time to go bull headed and balls out. Foot to the floor. Love knockout.
All-Ireland SHC quarter-final double-header in Limerick on Saturday.
4 pm Clare v Dublin
6.15 pm Tipp v Galway
Limerick the most logical place but not gone on the idea of a double header
Be hard get a ticket for some folk
Doubt there will be any problems, Galway have a terrible support base and are playing football the day after, Dublin have a small support base as well. Be plenty of tickets available I suspect.
I think Galway always bring a good crowd against Tipp.
John Keenan to referee Tipperary v Galway. He did the Waterford game too.
Madness! The place isn't big enough for a double header.
If it managed to host a Munster final last week I'm sure it more than capable of catering for what will show up on Saturday, will u go yourself?
I’ll come up from hols and go. Last Galway tipp game I was at was Joes magnificent point in 2017.
You do talk some amount of scutter to be fair dan, your consistency is admirable. Exactly what attendance are you expectinvg next Saturday?
Being selfish would rather cork but that was never going to happen. Always a good night out in cork, limerick for drinking/socializing is crap compared.
Where's good to park considering the 4pm crowd will have first pick? We'll probably go in during the second half of Clare and Dublin but my kids won't have the attention span for 2 games
If they're big enough to walk park in town it's a 20 min walk, the Clare crowd will have all the parking taken in caherdavin
One covered stand and it supposed to p*ss rain. Season Ticket thrown into North stand. Not happy with that.
John Keenan referee. Thought he was very poor for us v Waterford.
Brian McGrath has a punctured lung from being absolutely clattered into from behind, no card shown. Blew Kehoe for steps when was being pulled to the ground and a penalty was just as easily given. Allowed the Waterford goal to stand when there was a blatant foul by Hutchinson.
What happened to Brian McGrath is very disappointing. Can't blame Keenan for that. That's a car crash injury. It was a woeful clatter. Heard it from the opposite side of the field.
Yeah, I have tickets for 120. Bitta rain gear, be grand. We're gonna head in the night before and stay over. F**k that whole negotiating Limerick city on the day. The Clare crowd will be in early.
Similar enough team to the one that started against Offaly?
I'd expect Barrett back in instead of Morgan, Seamie Kenedy back wing back with Dan moving half forward.
Id say thats close to the team alright, with Bowe to come back in as an option from the bench hopefully
No stand tickets to be got at the moment, not sure they even went on general sale. Demand in clubs far outstripping what's available
