That's rough on people travelling. I was getting free tickets for it so it was a nice surprise/unexpected gig but that's disappointing.
I think the whole announced to marlay then moved to malahide and back again to marlay was weird and naturally malahide had to be held for them. So couldn’t slot something else in there

Anyone know what happens with transferred tickets? The announcement says refunds will be issued to ticket purchaser's account. Surely it will be refunded to the person in possession of the ticket now?
Cancelled rather than Rescheduled too. That says a lot to me. No interest in being in Ireland unfortunately.

for a resale ticket the original purchaser May have already received the money. Sometimes the reseller only gets it after the show so they might be due a refund as well as the person who bought the ticket on resale.
if you received a ticket thru transfer but paid them outside of ticketmaster Ie Revolut/PayPal etc then the original purchaser will receive the refund not you.

Nah, this isn't like a gig in 3Arena or other standalone venue that can just be rebooked whenever.
Stage construction, staff, planning permission etc would all have to be re-done for a later gig, not least finding time in the band's schedule to come back during the summer months. The stage and planning and all the services are there for a short run of gigs over a few weeks.
Logistically very hard to reschedule a big outdoor gig in a field, so no point bullshitting people and then just cancelling in a few months time anyway.
Where Fontaines DC supporting too? Surely there would be a big enough demand for them that they could headline?
I loved the AM's but last few albums weren't to my taste as such. Much prefer the Fontaines these days.
I expect they can claim on insurance for headliners cancelling? Could get messy for them if they went ahead with the gig in some shape or form.

no fointaines show in ireland/europe this year. Band taking time off to concentrate on USA tour.
Pretty impossible task to reschedule a marlay park show. Promoters only have a two week window to use the park, bunch of other shows on in it including longitude, probably no gaps in artic monkey schedule for next two weeks.
probably not touring Europe next summer so can’t reschedule it till 2024.
cancel is only real option
I understand the logistical problems with re-scheduling, but there wasn't even a token 'we want to come back to Ireland to make it up to the fans' line etc.
No point making promises they can’t keep. They toured last and this year extensively worldwide. Maybe next year is a year off from touring for them. No point giving false hope
Wouldn’t be surprised if Arctic Monkeys go back into hibernation after the American leg of the tour. They’ve been at it since last year and aren’t fans of it
The stage is only up in Marlay for a couple of weeks, can't logistically reschedule it there in that timeframe, and their touring schedule is probably locked in for the next 12-18 months. It is what it is but it's the right choice.
Also I think most fans get irritated with the "keep your tickets and we'll announce a new gig soon" approach, as quite frequently they cancel it outright months and months down the road and fans could have been out of pocket for well over a year at that point.
