A thread to keep each other up to date about where we all are in the process
Has anyone from 2021 campaign now been deemed appointable or any word on being asked to start in GV?
or
is everyone still waiting?
Just curious…
Still waiting to hear back from vetting, not sure if many people have cleared vetting yet :)
I’m appointable but no word as yet

Vetting: Pending/awaiting
Is the SMT email separate from the medical one. Got my medical email over a week ago but still waiting to hear on SMT
@ynwa22 Yes SMT is separate
Yeah I’m just about to do medical / SMT.
Waiting back on vetting.
Vetting could take months?
Yeah some people have taken over a year while others clear in a month with similar circumstances, idk if there’s a reasoning to it or just luck
Just seen the updated figures on joinpsni site, 50 withdrawals now in the 2021 campaign.
unofficially I can see it being more withdrawn
Atleast that’s us bumped up a bit. Still a long wait for us though
Wonder how many of those 50 are actual dropouts as opposed to attrition from failing stages for the 150
Also they’ve amended the 2020 stats to 50 progressing. The June intake has started already so that means there’s 50 still to be included in next intake(s) whenever they come, so potential for that to be mixed with ours
I would be surprised if many if any would be recorded as failing yet due to you being given the chance to redo the PCA after 12 weeks and medical and vetting both having appeals process which take time
Yeah fair. Figure for 150 is now 129 so must be 21 dropped out of that grouping
I think there has also been a few ‘no shows’ which results in being removed from the campaign…
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if a few who’d no intentions to continue decided to drop as soon as dates for pcas etc went out
Seems like quite a high number this early on into managed stages. I supposed people's circumstances change especially over 2.5 years lol. I would think the number of us who actually go through all remaining stages will be quite low going by how it's looking so far. I don't think the negative publicity the psni have been receiving will help either.
I’d love to know where on the list we now sit.
Does anyone know if you have completed CTC vetting already whether it would need completed again? I've read online it's valid for a number of years and can be transferred if changing jobs. IIRC it depends on the role applied for but I'm unsure. I got a job with G4S working in evidence processing for the police to hold me over until I go through remaining stages.
@Fusk_Asker From what I’ve read on here from people in similar positions (even existing Police Staff) the vetting needs to be redone by PSNI
Anyone who’s not passed vetting yet heard anything from them like more information or interview? Seen a check from them on my credit report a month ago but not heard a word
Quick question. Is/has anyone on here taking the plunge and moving from the prison service to the police? I'm in the second half of the merit list, so there's still a lot to think about until the time comes. I'm just wanting to hear other people's opinions.
Great thankyou. At the very least I can worry less knowing if I pass it once I can pass it again
Work it out yourself mate, given your position you are low 600s in the remaining pool waiting to start managed stages. That's not taking into account any further applicants dropping out. Managed stages could come round quicker than you think once things get moving again
My vetting passed 2-3 months before I decided to withdraw my application and apply for a police staff role. Still had to redo vetting again to get the police staff role!
What made you decide to change from an officer role to a staff role?
Did it take the same amount of time to process?
Family and better work/life balance to be honest. I'll never say never, but whilst my family are young I want to be home more 😊
@forumnewbie21 call handler? Think there’s places going out soon for that
