It’s new. They’ve also removed all model 3s (except demos), S and Xs. So the inventory is essentially out of action for the moment.
Either a major overhaul incoming or else they’re just trying to fix the SEAI grant discounted car issue. Crazy that months after they knew about the issue, on Monday night they still had about 80% of the cars ‘for sale’ being advertised under false pretences. Highly illegal so perhaps they just pulled everything for fear of consequences or just simply to avoid the hassle of wasting all their time at quarter end cancelling all the cars.
The amount of hassle it has caused them and it could be fixed with a single line of code!
Yet most of those cars sold will be delivered.
It could just be as simple as they have sold out 🤷♂️
You think they’ll honour the grant on the cars above €60k discounted below? Because that was majority of the inventory on Tuesday before it went down!
Also it would seem quite the coincidence they would suddenly clear out all the Model Ys sitting in inventory for months in a single day alongside the 60+ €160k LHD model Ss and Xs! Nope, they’ve definitely taken them all down but not sure why. They’ll all reappear again before the quarter end though I’m sure.
No, I don’t think they will honour any cars that had the grant glitch.
But I’d also try look on the bright side and not as pessimistic as some.
Not sure I follow the brightside/pessimism comment!
Just noting to the previous poster that the inventory has been completely out of action for the last few days and a possible reason being that Tesla are fixing the known SEAI glitch. Will likely be fixed in the coming days
Doesn’t sound optimistic or pessimistic to me!
Tesla are building a new centre in Cork; from a photo on the Facebook group it looks to be nearly finished. I expect that is why they have the new area selector; they will have cars available in Cork as well as Dublin. The UK site has a similar selector so you can look at cars in a specific location.
Cobh cross in cork.
Looks a fine premises. Will be handier for me from west Co Wexford than Sandyford. Not always quicker, but a little closer with less traffic holdups.
Wonder will they have the whole building or just the right part with Tesla sign?
I think they have half the building, from the planning docs it's two separate units anyway.
That may be the case but I've been unable to find detailed information about what needs to be done by 1st July to ensure you get the full grant. For example - is it for a specific make/model? does the SEAI have to be notified? is a VIN required? etc., etc.
Yes. You have to have an order with a manufacturer and a car assigned to you and the grace period is to allow for delivery.
They should have built it in Limerick
Should have one in every county to keep everyone happy 🤣
It's not complicated. SEAi grant needs to be approved by 30th June (for the max 5K), approval is then valid for 4 months.. Basically for approval the Open Market Selling Price needs to be below 60K. OMSP, = list price + optional extras + deliveries. The significant thing is that any Tesla Showroom discounts can not be taken into account when determining whether it is SEAI grant eligible. Simples!
I say that as a Galway man! Would handy
Yep, this!
Also, if you have a discounted car, they won't push it over to July for a 232 reg and discount.
Think of the discount as the depreciation being factored in (though I don't think there's a €3k difference between a 231 and a 232 reg)
Looking at the dealer form (
) the approval is automatic once submitted but it's not clear what happens if anything on the original application changes e.g. the price, the trade-in value, any extras omitted or added!
Might be worth a watch for anyone picking up a car soon.
I didn't realise about the emergency releases in the back, for example.
you are inventing problems. the qualification for SEAI grant is crystal clear. Once again it relates to OMSP being less than 60K (obviously at time of application and approval then valid for a period of 4 months). Tradein value has no impact at anystage. Clearly if you change spec on car the OMSP CHANGES AND IN EFFECT IS A NEW ORDER
I think you are over thinking it and over complicating the process by querying stuff that the dealer does and nothing to do with you.
Sorry for being off topic but can you walk in and test drive or you have to book it online? Also is there a number for Sandyford that doesn’t involve a large waiting time?
you need to book you can do this on their website efficiently
OK, thanks Lads. I've read it all again and maybe I am over-complicating it!
So in summary, if I order a Tesla before 1st July with OMSP of under 60k for 3rd quarter delivery I should get the full 5k grant!
The most important thing i would like to inform you, if you book a test drive and then put a deposit. The deposit becomes non-refundable. I would suggest to book a car through website rather than in-person at Tesla showroom.
Supercharger Credits and Rewards for us both by using my Referral Link -

Just be aware that it's not JUST the OMSP price. For example, a MYLR white/black with a tow hitch has an OMSP of just under €60k, but when you add on the delivery charges and fees (which is a condition of the SEAI grant) then it's over the €60k threshold and doesn't qualify.
For MY LRs, only the base white and black colours with NO extras of any kind qualify for the grant. Once you add ANYTHING your grant is gone. If you want a tow hitch you can add it later.
For MY RWD though, you can add anything you want pretty much, but watch out for FSD if you want that (tip: you don't! It's pretty much worthless in Europe at the moment and you can add it later).
See I think this is a "because we said so" from Tesla, and not the actual law.
If you test drive, go home and order online, it's still an order made at distance. Tesla want you to think otherwise but they can't dictate the law.
I wonder what their "grace period" is for post test drive and what would then be a distance sale to them. I mean, if I did a test drive today and ordered in 6 months time, would they point to this test drive and say "no deposit refund"?
Proof of registration in my account this morning ahead of Monday morning pick up!
They didn't leave me much time to sort insurance 😂
Oh well, feels a little more real now!
Hi Folks,
Collected my MY LR black on black yesterday. Thanks to all on here for the fantastic information over the past number of months.
Very simple process. Arrive at 2 for 2:30 appointment and was dealt with straight away. The car was a bit dirty on the outside from being in the yard which I was ok with but both rear sills and carpets had muddy boot prints and a stain on the rear cargo cover. I showed them the pics and they said I could get it valeted and send them the bill. I took a panoramic photo of the compound to post here but I was asked by one of the delivery team to delete it as it would have shown some registration numbers! Not sure what the issue was there as they'd be out on the road in a few hours anyway.
Looking for opinions here on another issue - the colour of the wood trim is slightly different between the doors and dashboard. Is this worth listing as a fault to be rectified or am I being a bit too precious about it? Anyone else notice the same thing with theirs? I assume they'd end up changing door cards or the inserts if they can be done without damaging the door.
(ps every time I tried adding photos they appear upside down)
Congratulations on the new arrival!
I believe that the difference in colour is due to the dashboard being real wood where as the doors are only a fake laminate.
I agree.. if you checked Iphone now in store and ordered it online does that remove distance selling rules?
Also, where this test drive is coming from? I checked the order agreement for the car I booked in Jan and didnt find any reference for that.
