What is worse is that some South African sources are now claiming that there wasn't an air raid or missiles at all, and it was all Ukrainian propaganda. They still seem to be annoyed that some of their journalists and security personnel weren't allowed off the plane in Poland due to irregularities with their paperwork.

Are you saying that Ukraine shouldn't be meeting with the democratically elected leader of the second largest economy in Africa and a G-20 nation because they're currently undergoing severe economic problems exacerbated by corruption?
If that's the yard-stick for whether they try and gain new allies then they'd be excluding a significant percentage countries, especially outside the OECD.

Weird to think that the largest country on Earth by landmass would want to re-establish an empire. They already have one. It spans from Europe to the Pacific ocean. If they're of the mentality that this isn't satisfactory, then it's not a stretch to conclude that they will not be satisfied with subsuming Ukraine.
The losses of some Leopard tanks was bound to happen. The first use of German Tiger tanks near Lenningrad was not a success either as the few road suitable for them were narrow and open to side ambushes.
The real question is: does Belarus effectively control any nuclear weapons which may be on its territory? Location is one thing, control another. My money is that control rests with Moscow. Think about it: anything else would be incredibly dangerous to Russia itself.
