Conor had a great run at FW and I admire that he moved up to test himself. The wins against Diaz at 170 and beating Alvarez were also very impressive.
Unfortunately he has a huge ego and no sense. I've no idea why he thought he could beat Khabib after a 2 year absence. Take a tune up fight. Same applies to Poirier.

McGregor has won 1 fight since 2016, battered to a crisp twice by Prioier and totalled by Khabib. At least Chandler is active and not partying on boats, far from a perfect fight for McGregor, how anyone could think that is beyond me.
Dustin was the tune up fight, it was all pally pally and because Conor beat him before it was a guaranteed win. DP is a savage, it was ridiculous how he was written off for it.
Its perfect compared to the other options. Hed be absolutely battered or subbed in seconds by Charles, Islam or Dariush. Justin about the only other good fight out there for him.
Yeah he and everyone else both underestimated Dustin but also thought 2015 Conor was coming back.
Can't see that angle at all. He is an inactive fighter coming off 2 losses (soundly beaten). He doesn't deserve the chance against the other names you mentioned, they are at least active and have a degree of success behind them in the past few years.
I don't think anyone expected Conor to have shown that level of dis-improvement though. He can still hit well enough and hard too, so I wouldn't write him off outright against anyone, but he's become so one-dimensional and flat footed.
I don't think it was ridiculously one-sided or anything until the KO happened, but I was disappointed that Conor seemed to have no game plan whatsoever except catch Dustin with a big punch.
As I have said before, basically he saw the Hooker fight and thought well I can hit far harder and more accurately than Dan, I'll be fine. Except he wasn't because Dustin's not one-dimensional and is great under pressure.
The Dustin that fought is as good as Dustin has ever been. The McGregor that fought most definitely wasn't.
Chandler is a good fight for him realistically. Especially if Chandler brings out his patented non-existant fight IQ in a brawl situation. I'd consider it a real 50/50 fight, probably 60/40 in Chandler's favor if he's actually smart about the fight.
I think it's a great match up. Chandler's fights are always exciting. Him or Gaethje were the two best potential opponents imo. Looking forward to it.

I see Eddie Hearn was in the Black Forge yesterday discussing the Katie Taylor fight.
He's absolutely back in the testing pool, looks much softer and his head isn't bursting off him
McGregors power doesn't translate well to 55, it actually looks worse when he is bulkier and he gasses quicker.

He had one of the greatest ever title fight performances against Eddie , it was almost picture perfect as close as the perfect fight as we have ever seen, (one that lasted)
Once he went boxing that was the end of MMA Conor he was never the same again & never will be , His movement & mma timing never returned its all different now , The boxing made him financially but ended his MMA days as a top fighter,

He was undersized for 155 , i actually think he will take this Chandler fight at 170lbs but then look to go down to 155lbs if he wins which he won't

Im not sure if any contracts have been signed but I wouldn’t be surprised if he milks this for 6 months and then it never goes ahead

Not that I've seen and I'd imagine it would become public knowledge pretty quickly when he does so at least 6 months before the fight happens.
I reckon both the UFC and McGregor thought they might get an exemption but now that doesn't look likely I'd be surprised if the Chandler fight happens.
Has he finished making that film then? Either way, you would have to imagine if he isn't in the pool now, nothing has been signed just yet.
Can't say I would be heartbroken that much if it never went ahead either. Chandler would be, big payday for him and he probably wins this handy enough.
