Is that a caterpillar-dog cross in pic 33?
Great potential, but even 100k would be very quickly spent, five times that would be a minimum to make it any way useful, even as a rustic-appeal centre/retreat/holiday place. If I had money to throw around I wouldn't mind giving it a go though, it has appeal.
It just means you are tied up with planning to get a waste treatment unit in. If there is a septic tank there you can work away.
I'm not sure that is entirely true now. If you look for planning for anything on the site, especially offering any sort of accommodation or public use they will chase up the septic tank/water treatment unit, the entrance etc. Also I can't exactly remember how it works, but if you are selling you are supposed to have a cert to say your water treatment unit complies to regs - you can buy a house that doesn't have it but if you go to sell again you could be caught by it. I think septic tanks are being phased out.
The old farm house looks structurally sound. If there's a septic tank there( and I presume there is with the toilet on it) then you can do up.the old house draw the grant and the SEAI without any real hassle.
There is no real phasing out of septic tanks, there is very little interaction by the LA with house owners who have septic tanks. There is no certification as such. With waste water treatment systems there is . There looks to be more than what was one dwelling on the property I count 3-4. So you may be able to draw the grant for a multiple dwelling's if you rented them long term for 10 years
If the each dwelling is connected to a septic tank or all to the one tank you are avoiding a potential headache. It's probably a saving of 5k+per dwelling and that is even if you had to replace like for like with a few of them.
A communal waste water treatment plant for the multiple dwelling's would set you have 30-50k in total along with yearly maintenance costs
OK, that wasn't my experience when pursuing a very similar situation, or when subsequently moving into a house with a septic tank, but I can't quote chapter and verse.
At least the fireplace hasn't been photo-shopped either....
There’s a cosiness there. I just can’t put my finger on it.
That is gorgeous, wow. I looked at the pics before I looked at the price and was expecting something starting with at least a 3!
I really don't like the pine ceilings but as extensions go, the owners did a great job with this old cottage keeping it's character. Great location but it's a pity the old Sligo Dairies site is so close
I suppose its quite rural and the BER rating is low. But I'd say it will go for more.
Big expensive upside down house with a cheap steeltech shed. I'm not sure how it got planning. Not for me but it's interesting all the same. Photo no 2 looks like you are behind a slatted shed and maybe the current owners parents house.
I don't know what's going here.
That house featured here before, it obviously didn't sell.
It's like a house just dropped from the sky.
I love the line "a substantial area has been left in it's natural state to encourage biodiversity" or something like that......or we ran out of money and couldn't afford landscaping.
It's a lovely house, amazing views but looks very remote. It also needs something to blend the house in with the landscape while not blocking the views.
It's not remote. 15 real minutes to the centre of Westport, can be cycled along the new Greenway as well. It's in the middle of a ribbon development, about 1km from the main car park to Croagh Patrick. 2 decent pubs within 15 minutes walking distance as well.
2 bathrooms in a house of its size is a bit odd. But I like the upside down element of it as it improves the view.
Incredible views are the best thing about it.
Lovely house but my mind is boggling at the placement of the kitchen island! I just want to go in and straighten it but it's got a sink in it so it's obviously plumbed in to place.
I broke out in a rash looking at that.
Some child is going to lose an eye with the projecting counter top on it.
It obviously seemed like a good idea at the time. Getting rid of the sink and plumbing would be no problem it's mat hong the tiles underneath. The original plumbing for the sink is probably underneath the window. I do not like the wood finish over the gas stove cooker either
This was on de telly tonight! Compared to the other multi-million € houses, it looked a little understaged (to put it mildly!) - but the owner/seller seemed like a very nice, genuine chap.
I'll have to check that out- what was the program?
Selling Ireland's Dream Homes
https://www.rte.ie/player/series/selling-ireland-s-dream-homes/10001138-00-0000?epguid=IP000068129
The ultimate in fluff programming (I've never actually watched it before, but copped from a trailer that that had to be the Donegal island house), but there's some great property porn in it!
We've a piano but can't get a mat to fit inside the door.
Frame/divider looks deliberate on that mat. Maybe the right side is to clean the heavy stuff off, thus it being dirtier? Would have made more sense to be on the other side if so, but then it wouldn't be hidden by the open door.
Sorry guys, your dream off-grid shack made out of plywood offcuts and random windows, located on waste ground, for €1,100 a month was snapped up by a guy who's upgrading from living in his car.
That is the grimmest thing I have ever seen. I genuinely would rather live in my car. At least in your car, you can be fairly certain the roof isn’t going to fall in on top of you!
That ‘landlord’ has some neck on him charging €1100 per month for that shack (it’s an insult to sheds to even call it a shed)
It’s already rented according to the Landlord in the IT article today.
I had to laugh at the futility of politicians demanding that Daft take the bad down. They don’t have a clue. Everyone looking in that area has seen it and applied for it before Daft know what’s going on. Proved by the fact that it’s rented already.
Lovely if you always wanted to live in a home made shed! Some folk have no shame.
This country have been destroyed by greed.
i built a 'fort' like that when i was a kid...
