Whilst never pinpointing the exact event that pushed them over the edge, despite being asked multiple times.
The only way he can be "prevented" from running is if the GOP party deny him a place on the Primary ballots.
There is nothing legally stopping him from standing as a candidate even if he is convicted.
The GOP are screwed any which way they move at the moment.
If they actively block him from running in the Primary, Trump will tear down the remaining candidates and his MAGA core are large enough to ensure that any GOP candidate loses the actual election.
If they allow him to run but he actually loses the Primary , it's the same result - Trump will say it was fixed and stolen from him and his MAGA base will screw the actual winner.
If he wins the Primary and is the GOP candidate , then he repulses the Moderates/Independents and massively energises the Democrat base leading to him losing by a huge margin.
What I'd like to know is where are those that regurgitated the defence that he had the power to and did declassify documents.
Now you've heard him on tape saying he didn't, how much of a fool does that make you feel?
*digs out that French kiss gif again*
In my opinion he has if you watch his video from last night he echoes some coded language he used on January 6 at the ellipse.
"how much of a fool does that make you feel"
Not the first time you've probably asked that and won't be the last.
He has no fans here. Just impartial, unbiased observers.
Here we go again
If Trump doesn't get to be the GOP nominee he will do everything he can to prevent anyone else from the GOP winning.
DeSantis or anyone else winning would be a disaster for Trump and his ego as it would show that the GOP don't need him to win.
If A.N. Other GOP candidate loses then Trump can continue to claim that he would have definitely won , that it was all stolen from him and that he's still the greatest ever and so on.
Now , if he was actually convicted and in jail serving time (even if convicted it's hard to see him going to actual Jail to be honest) he might attempt to work to support another candidate , but he has taken his followers so far down the rabbit hole it's hard to see how he could get them back to vote for RDS or whoever.
Let's say Trump sweeps a lot of the primaries, and ends up in jail - do those delegates have to vote for Trump or could Trump tell them to vote for some VP stooge Trump puts forward at the convention?
Think it varies from State to State as to whether the delegates are "tied" or not - Not that that stopped Trump trying to install alternative electors in 2020!!
But generally speaking , it's the GOPs show so they could change the rules however they want - Like if they suddenly grew a spine they could pass a by-law saying that people convicted of a federal crime couldn't stand etc.
4.4% of the US population believe in using violence to reinstate Trump in the White House.
House Republicans suddenly pretending like they don't understand or believe in the existence of the Special Counsel process
At least one GOP Senator breaking with the pack. As per usual, it's Mitt Romeny
I was gonna say in my post, the senate will probably throw water on that and it will be the usual suspects.
I wonder will Mitt Romney throw his hat in the ring again?
Obviously I wouldn’t like someone who thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old to win, but at this stage he would hoover up the swing/independent voters as he is coming across as a “reasonable” republican. Have Liz Cheney as VP pick, and that could worry Biden and co.
I think the MAGA crowd won’t bother voting for anyone if Donny isn’t on the ticket anyway.
I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for the nomination again in 2028. I'm sure he'd prefer not to go up directly against Trump just because it'll be a clusterf*ck for everyone involved. That said, the fact he's gone against the GOP so often because of Trump, it's possible he knows he's unlikely to get enough backing for the nomination again. Similar to Liz Cheney, they might pull more of the moderates/independents, but it could lead to the more hardcore GOPers abstaining or not backing them even if they do get the nomination and Presidency.
Disgusting. Our government leaves a lot to be desired at times but they're geniuses compared to these GOP clowns.
Honestly I think 2024 breaks the current GOP one way or the other.
If Trump wins , they are done as he will just go fully scorched earth on everyone he thinks has wronged him (which will eventually be everyone) and destroys the place.
If he loses either at the Primary or General election stage , the GOP will eat themselves alive leaving very little behind.
I think the smart thing to do at this stage as a whole would be to forget 24 take whatever crap happens on the chin, let Trump do whatever he’s going to do but distance themselves, then take the next few years to build up and identify things that will appeal a bit more broadly and candidates who haven’t **** themselves at Trumps altar.
obviously won’t happen as too many are invested in their current jobs.
bahahah

Lads, Trusty McTrustface and Rowley have resigned as Trump's legal counsel 🤣🤣🤣
Donny's lawyers have resigned

Beat me to it.
How radioactive do you have to be for your entire legal team to up and walk out. They're LAWYERS. They LOVE money. They will prosecute a ham sandwich for a decade given the opportunity, but they all jumped off like it's a sinking ship where they're more likely to be sucked into his criminal liability with the crime-fraud exception.
The lawyer representing Trump in the NY state case is now the sole criminal legal counsel. Given how hard Trump has found hiring competent legal representation recently? I wonder how his bench is going to look on Tuesday?
No competent counsel that values their reputation could have stayed in place after the release of the transcript IMO. A year of carefully laying the groundwork of his defence, he'd undermined it a year previously and let himself be recorded doing it 🤣🤣
Wait the guy who told the judge 'You understand what I am dealing with,' that guy?
on the plus side , he'd have free access to Russian whore pi$$. He must be feeling the sanctions at the moment.........
Pretty similar alright, considering their legal careers pretty much die.
Walt Nauta, the moving boxes and other jobs guy has also been indicted. If they can add 1 more person to the mix in Florida? They'll be prosecuting a conspiracy
