This man committed a horrendous act, hopefully all of the victims make full recoveries. And the offender will be dealt with as per the justice system, regardless of his nationality/ religion.

I can forgive the initial lack of research, but to keep going on about him being a Muslim, after many people have said he’s not a Muslim, is just being thick.

Also, Muslims in an act of homicide are not typically the shy, retiring types. Allahu Akbar is I believe the cry that is often heard with these attacks. This was also noticeably absent.

Some people are just racist and want to blame Muslims for all crimes like these.

Another fact to add is that it is not being investigated by the terrorist police, but the national police. Another sign it was not a Muslim terrorist attack.

He may not be, you're right. We have to wait until the facts are available, but it's - as you say - looking likely that he was not.

He may even have been pretending to be Christian to deliberately misassign blame. We don't know, but we will eventually find out.

But at the same time, you can at least forgive people for assuming that it may be Islamic extremist related - for two reasons: first, that there is a history of knife attacks by Islamic extremists in Europe, particularly in France; and second, that ISIS themselves issued a specific declaration to its adherents in Europe to wield household knives against civilian targets. Their followers took up that recommendation and acted accordingly.

Im of the opinion we really need to consider reinstating the death penalty. We need a process whereby we can remove monsters from society. Forget about locking them up for life and rehab. Hang them by the neck until they are dead.

Hopefully the french at some stage look to start a debate on the imigration problem into Europe. We need to act and start by closing the doors. Make it as hard as possible for people to get in.

This is a terrible crime by this man whoever he was and hope all those people and children recover from their injuries .

It is really not appropriate to be using this act as a vehicle for immigrant or refugee debate .

he has indeed now been reported as having been a Syrian Christian by some media sources. Be interesting to see if he held onto that particular religious belief….. not an act certainly in line with being a ‘christian’… either way.

I mean

Police sources told Le Monde that the man had declared himself to be a Syrian Christian in his French asylum application. Le Monde and other French media reported that he had been wearing a Christian cross on a chain round his neck when arrested.

Sounds like the craftiest Muslim I’ve ever heard of.
