Today's Bread in two days time. Always close to its best before.
You need to reach in behind the shelf and grab the ones from the back.(Sounds filthy but it works!! π) I always look at the dates before buying most things.
You're going to the wrong shop. I bought a pan this morning BBD 11/6/23
Make sure it's a full pan if you're reaching around them half pans aren't worth the effort. π€¨π€¨π€π€
Amazing that a shop or any other money making effort would try to catch you out in order to maximise the profits for themselves. This is shocking stuff.
Sale or return for bread I think, probably dairy products as well, maybe meat too.
It's always a challenge to get a decently fresh Brennan's pan though.
Sure the milk sections in some of these kips they are literally selling the 1litre cartons with the expiry date the very next day. You got to keep the eyes open man, these people, they ain't your friend
Maybe there's not enough people buying Brennan's bread in your area, so what you see is sad sliced pans waiting to be bought, much like that little pooch in the animal sanctuary waiting for it's forever home!
Brennans bread = Chewing gum.Pure dirt.
Staffords bread one of very few decent sliced pans on the market.
Three quid for a white sliced pan. Go defecate in a bucket
Quality pan unlike the chewing gum brand
What a horrible thing to say to anyone
Not in any of the shops I go to. Always 4 days left on the best before.
You're shopping in the wrong shops.
The most boring bland bread on the market. I have no idea why people go mad for this processed rubbish.
Good Ol' Mister Brennan, great man for the oul reacharounds
You do realise all bread is processed?
Their crusty loaf they sell in Lidl which you can then slice yourself or in the machine is awesome in fairness.
if you look at loaf of Brennan's White Pan wrong, it will go mouldy.
McCambridges Stone Ground, now there's a loaf you can set your watch to!
Kid's like it essentially. That's why I get it.
Dunnes. A low bar in fairness.
No you're buying the wrong bread. Bread in its natural state should not last 4-5 days.
Good bread is best on the day it's baked/sold and should not last a week.
People thinking that Brennan's bread or other loaves of its type is quality bread are deluded and must never have had bread outside of Ireland.
This!
I once bought a sliced pan (can't remember the brand), had a few slices and then forgot about it. When I remembered about 10 days later I fully expected it to be able to make its own way out of the press, but no, I opened the wrapper while keeping my face at a safe distance, and there it was, white, pristine, not a sign of mould or any staleness. I've been wary of sliced pans ever since.π
+1 on the Staffords, nice bread in all its varieties.
I did not realise bread snobbery was a thing until now.
In Scotland, the regular pan loaf used to be more expensive than the plain (batch) loaf, so to speak with aΒ pan loafyΒ voice was to speak in a posh or affected manner. π
The older items will always be at the front of the shelf with longer dates at the back, this goes for all items with a BB date not just bread. Get used to looking at the Best Before dates, they can often vary quite a bit.
On bread snobbery, an older relative gave me a (fairly fresh) small loaf of bread for my dad the other day because she only 'eats it on the first day' she won't eat it after that π
Can only eat gluten free bread myself but bread snobbery is the best kind of snobbery
I don't mind it a bit stale I think it makes lovely toast. I love leaving out sliced soda bread to harden then toast it.
I only eat bread that has had its flour ground with organic granite millstones.
Quite right
Cannot bring myself to use it - looks like a torture device for bread...
