Its Aloe Vera, magical stuff. Unless of course its plastic.
Utility room looks like they were obsessed with Lidl/Tipperary!
Or Ikea?
Looks like some of the central heating was an afterthought!
They probably never had central heating in the old farm house, as it was kept warm by the range 🙄
Typical Mac Mansion, big kick ass house and cannot afford to pay/maintain it. Look at photo 14, new copper pipe running around the wall and a plug which disappears into the wall.
I wonder if they had fancy underfloor heating with air to heat exchanger etc. Big C1 house that was never going to work.
Don't think I've ever seen 5 similar McMansions in a row. This middle one is really bringing down the tone of the neighbourhood...
What an ugly and poorly maintained house. Whoever decorated that has no taste.
It's Cavan. Pure one-upmanship around there everyone trying to out do their neighbours and each as tasteless as the next. The pretence of grandeur comes to mind.
Why build something beautiful and functional when you can build big? You can’t put a number on functional but I can tell you how many rooms I have and the square footage when I build big.
Jaysus, the central heating pipework in that house is dog rough. Actually dog rough doesn't cover it. Absolutely atrocious is more accurate.
Obviously a supporter of the Ukraine with that utility room.
Anyone else think Super Mario Bros. with picture 15?
Ukraine, rough pipe and ducts…
They may have been trying to repro a Lil' Chernobyl?
While I agree that house in Cavan is decorated awful and maintained even worse its not actually mcmansion sized. The total square feet is only 2485 which isnt huge at all - see floor plan below. I think the camera work or empty rooms is making it look bigger than it actually is. While all the rooms are really bad decor wise the bathroom is the worst for me - It reminds me of a hospital or bathroom in a mental institution from the 1950's - very bleak.
Its a house and garden that has been neglected. I bet there is a story behind the owners of that house. Its a house that hasnt been loved in a long time.
It’s weird that the fancy window over the front door doesn’t feature in any of the interior shots. It should be in bedroom 2 from the plan. In pic #21 it looks like there is something large blocking on the inside. All the other exterior photos have a shine on the windows.
it’s a very sad looking house anyway. It’s like a tickbox of all the cool things to have in a house, like a pool table and cue rack, but totally soulless. Also signs of damp in the ceiling in pic #15.
And for a recent build to be BER C1 is mad.
Like they forgot a few of the rads when plumbing it, and had to run the pipes on the surface. Jesus christ.
Oh, the tarmac…so much tarmac!
What is Irish people’s obsession with tarmacing all the way around the house!? It’s looks horrendous and turns the place into a sweat box in the summer.
Do you want to live on a roundabout?
How much parking do you need? This house looks like it is sinking into a tar pit!
Any art fans out there?
Such a shít layout as well. Just look at the position of the garage. It is miles away from the gate and in such an awkward position. Why not just put it in front of the gate like a normal person. All bathrooms are en-suite, so if you have a guest over and they need to use the bathroom they have to go through someon's bedroom first. One of the bedrooms is off the sitting room. Picture 12, that rubbish, awkward to use door that leads into the walk in closet.
I think the tarmac is practical and great in rainy, mucky weather - they still have loads of lawn left so it wouldnt annoy me at all. I would be more bothered about the washing machine just off the bedroom - whats that about?
But half an acre of tarmac though? Who needs that unless you’re parking articulated lorries there?
I’ll have some nice paths through the garden and a wildlife pond.
More likely no insulation and they were freezing!
There is still plenty of room there to have paths and ponds etc. It really doesnt look like a huge amount of tarmac at all. I would consider it very useful to be able to drive around the back and have room to park a few cars. I think the outside of that house ( both tarmac and garden ) looks very neat, practical and usable.
2 kitchens? Was one supposed to be a utility room? It's not connected to the larger kitchen though, but maybe that's why there's a washing machine in the room off the bedroom?
It has a big garden but I agree there's too much tarmac.
That's a fine house for the price.
Is this a repost?

Yes, that and the trees that are often a half mile away from the house perimeter. Very cold and unbecoming, and made worse by the non descript architecture in many cases.
Not a curve on the layout of tarmac anywhere or flower beds etc in front of the house either to make it less brutalist. Straight lines everywhere and right up to the house. No path around the house to break it up either. Probably tarmaced over it too.
I’d put a carport or garage opposite the gate and dig up the rest. That oddly placed existing garage can be absorbed by the garden. Consider it a Folly!
It looks like the right hand side of the house was originally set out as a granny flat/self contained accommodation. It has its own kitchen/bedroom/sittingroom and bathroom.
It could suit a family that wanted a grandparent living with them or an aupair.
You're getting a lot of house for your 2.5m, but the original old house looks like it needs some work. I'd just live in the newer house out the back
There appears to be a little square enclave in the grounds that you don't get, wonder whats there?
I suspect it is something to do with a sewerage system, but that's just a guess. I might be able to find out!
Yes, that appears to be the case. Since it does not belong to the house but there is no right of way to it, it must belong to the Co.Co. and it appears its part of the village septic system.
