I must say it looks very classy and can even see some Land Rover Evoque in the side view. I really like the rear lights, front grill and the dash. This could become the best car in its class.

Needs bigger air vents on the passenger side.
Handsome thing though, no doubt will be more expensive than the Kadjar, and good to see some buttons retained on the dash.
Interesting that Renault is continuing to develop new ICE based cars. There are many who consider it a sacrilege to buy such cars with so many EVs to choose from these days.
Glad they changed the name, could never warm to the Kadjar name
It's a Qashqai underneath so the development was already there. If you want a similar pure EV crossover then the Megane E-Tech Electric will be available later in the year and will be based on the Nissan Ariya EV crossover.
How many times are Renault going to make a random SUV? Captur, Kadjar, Arkana? Have any of them sold well?
Really. I think it's a pity. This should have been the Kadjar MK2. It's not as if it was not successful so very strange to change the name. Now if it was not successful then OK but the-Kadjar was very successful.
The Captur is not a random SUV. It is very successful actually and is on its 2nd generation. It is one of the best cars in irmts class too.
Yes the Captur, Kadjar and Arkana have all sold well.
Renault havent made an ugly car in a long time now bar the Koleos which has sort of bombed
I don't think the Koleos is ugly. Yes it could have been better do. It really should have been a 7 seater.
It done OK for a while.
yeah , probably not ugly but compared to the Peugeot 5008 , its very forgettable
the Kadjar is a very handsome small SUV
Needs less thread title. Again.
Nope I do not think so.
Austral review
Arkana - 1,223 (23rd)
Captur - 967 (27th)
Kadjar - 325 (85th).
I don't see why they didn't just make a third generation Kadjar rather than replacing it with the Austral.
Yes it's a strange decision by Renault I thought too. Yes in the beginning people took a while to get used to the Kadjar name but it sold well for Renault so if it was a flop it would be understandable but it was not.
Then to just suddenly stop making it last year ye OK if it's replacement was ready to go but it was not and is still not on sale.
I think they could lose some sales but also gain some with the Austral. Hopefully more the latter than the former.
Only seeing this now. The Captur has sold well in both generations and in fact it created that class of CUV/SUV.
The Kadjar sold well untill Renault decided to stop making it last year for some strange reason and the Arkana is selling well too.
This must be in the showrooms by now is it?
It's on sale in the UK from €34,695 so what about €45,000 Euro here or more.
Not yet id say.
Its on the Renault.IE Website,
can not be long now till its available to buy here.
Yes to register your interest.
I guess they are trying to see what the demand here would be like for it first.
I wonder what will be the demand for it, as I'm sure the Arkana and the Megane E-Tech is after taken a good few Austral sales already, even the name change is a risky one to do these days, as I bet it causes confusion for customers, the Koleos didn't sell well here, which is a shock as it's a SUV, and to be fair it did look good, the Nissan X-Trail sold way better here and I'm sure that's way the Espace name is getting a revival again.
I think there will be a fair demand for it if Renault market it right and advertise it well. I think it was a mistake of Renault to drop the Kadjar way before the replacement was out do and yes to change the name too so soon was crazy especially as he had not got a bad reputation. Just made no sense. As for the Koleos I always see plenty of them about but it was quiet expensive too. Maybe if it had of been a 7 seater it would have done better.
Drove an Austral Esprit Apline yesterday, drove well for a 1.2 hybrid. Looks pretty good, interior very similar to the Megane. Personally would prefer a bigger engine but all round it's a nice car. No price but was around the 50k mark
Jesus, 50k for another magnolia crossover. These car manufacturers really have lost the run of themselves in recent times.
Ye as much as I love it that price if it is 50k plus is just crazy.
Supposedly starting around 43k, it's a nice car but doesn't stand out in the sea of drab crossovers that have flooded the roads
Say Renault registered 60 or so in may - presume to garages but haven’t seen any or even a price list . Not even on Carzone yet
They'd be Renault staff and dealer demos. Renault probably won't let dealers sell their's for a month or so
Seen a few of these on the road recently...have to say a beautiful looking car. The French have really upped their game. The Peugeot and Renaults are real lookers
Does anyone have an austral. Whats the real world mpg like?
Anyone have one of these australs ? whats the real mpg like or what is it like on fuel?
