I asked about when we'll get the reg on the chat and they said 1-2 days before delivery although one of the posters here said it just appeared in the documents on their account a good few days before delivery
I've Tuesday delivery so Sunday/Monday would be 1-2 days, do they send them out over the BH weekends?
Just an FYI for the 20th-30th June EDD people: Current ETA for delivery of those cars to Baldonnel is actually June 23rd, with the first pickups happening on June 24th.
MYLR is 110km advertised extra range over the RWD if both have Gemini wheels.
thanks for the info. Mine EDD 21-30 but vin gone from the app..
Picking up on Wednesday, Jan 14th order.
Like that I had a few collection dates changed. Have the Vin for weeks so assuming that it has been held up due to the revenue issue. I could have collected today but had to push it out to Wednesday.
@pete have you received email or calls from them ?
Hi guys, has anyone had experience of Telsa refusing to process a refund on the €250 deposit recently. I ordered a model 3 in January with delivery of Feb-March, that changes multiple times like other peoples orders, needed a car so ordered a Y and took delivery. Not being told they wont refund because I had a test drive. I presume most who have a couple orders in ad cancel one have had a test drive?
You ignore the benefits of four wheel drive and substantially extra power though.
Spoke on chat.
other relevant info: Inventory “ready for delivery” cars are also still in transit.
Thanks do you still have vin in the app, mine is gone, not sure what gonna happen..
Thanks for the info.
I'd say to contact them on chat on the main page
Yeah still in app & on account
When do you get the reg number? I think you need that to put insurance in place.
Yep - you need it for the insurance - 1-2 days before delivery is the standard - cutting it pretty fine
I got my registration on the Friday. Picked it up the following Tuesday. Sorted the insurance on the Friday evening..
For me, I got right to the delivery day both times and still didn’t have a reg number. I only found out by contacting them on the day and asking for the registration to then be told that actually, it wasn’t ready. Tesla didn’t proactively contact me on the day to say the car wasn’t ready.
I’m hoping I’m just stuck in the backlog, but it’s particularly frustrating due to the complete disinterest in any response. I’ve had the VIN for a couple months - and even physically seen the vehicle (it’s a showroom ex demo).
Good luck for Wednesday, can you update if successful?!
Yes, because I don't believe they are worth much. 4WD is useful for maybe 2 weeks of the year when we get cold icy weather. Paying for extra power means also paying for extra insurance so that to me is actually a drawback, not a benefit
What time on Friday did you get the reg at? Nearly Midday now and no reg for a Tuesday delivery after the bank holiday
similar situation in that i ordered MY AWD WHITE/Black GrantQ on JANUARY 18
I had a VIN (now its hidden)
Tesla say its on a boat arriving 29th June: what boat is that?
Don't forget the charge rate difference. Standard MY charges at 170 kW max vs 250kW on the LR and Performance. Plus the longer warranty on the battery - 160,000km vs 192,000km.
What's your EDD ?
250kW is the max, you'd only get that on under 30% SOC and with perfect conditions, after about 45% you're at 170kW
Imprtant to remember as well that about half of our DC chargers in ireland max out at 50-150kW so would you notice any difference really?
The larger battery would be heavier and therefor the car less efficient also so would take longer to get the same range would it not?
Everyone has different preferences. I paid extra for LR for the extra power and the extra 110km range for longer journeys. I also plan on paying for Acceleration Boost which isn’t available on RWD. I like having AWD and prefer real fog lights to the black inserts. Some people don’t value any of this but some do.
I guess it's down to what you're using it for. If you're doing a lot of city driving, then you don't need the extra range. If you're going cross-country relatively frequently, then that extra 100km+ range is signficant in a country of this size. Not just from the perspective of reaching your destination, but getting around while you're there and then home again. And if you're doing a lot of mileage, that extra 32,000km on the battery warranty could be significant from a resale perspective.
Hopefully there'll be a greater availability of fast DC chargers over the coming years from the likes of Ionity etc.
I did this and they confirmed that
A registration request was made and as soon as its processed by the authorities our delivery team will let you know
I asked when i can expect this to happen, pointing out the Bank Holiday weekend might be an issue
Our team works every day, including the bank holiday, so if there is any update over the weekend or on Monday, they will let you know
Guess I'll be ringing the insurance company on Tuesday morning with the details... Squeaky bum time as Roy Keane would say
This is true, my preference is for a bargain haha!
Don't forget that LR additional range is paper range only, just like neither version ever reaches their WLTP figure in reality.
A huge advantage of the RWD is the ability to charge to 100% whenever you want, which effectively negates that additional theoretical LR range anyway.
The power is nice though.
With most marques, you'll pay more than €7k - often substantially more - to upgrade to a model with 4WD and pretty brutal acceleration which makes the Tesla a relative bargain. I would view the extra range as a bonus. If you're happy with the base spec that's fine (I have it BTW so that's not a slur), but viewing it as €7k just for a little extra range is looking at it wrong imho.
