Best of luck with it. Very happy with the 5s here. Let us know how ya find it
Could anyone tell me if there's a slack adjusters on a 2008 red rock silage trailer? Thanks
I can't imagine why there wouldn't be....... Has it commercial or ag spec brakes?
Much easier towed. Less rolling resistance due to the taller wheel.
I'm guessing ag, it a bogey axel with oil brakes, I think there ADR axles
when you look at the ram is it connected straight onto the shaft that activates the brakes?
If yes In the short term you might need to undo the linking piece between the ram and shaft at the splined edge and get a stilsons to turn the brake shaft a little. If has slack adjuster tighten on and go back 1/3-1/4 turn and work back until happy between loaded and empty.
You can get a standard splined slack adjuster for less than €50 to fit in in the long run. They just need setting so the end of the rams stroke will be 90degree to the adjuster iirc you’d have a choice of holes allowing for different stroke lengths
Ideally check brakes with weight off each wheel spinning it with the lightest touch of your finger and tighten until you stop being able to turn and back off slightly. If brakes are too sharp(likely without load sensing) go back slightly again until a happy medium. On a bogeys you can’t get loadsensing.
After doing anything with brakes check the hubs for anything more than slight heat after you’d done a small bit of work where you did use the brakes. Too much will cook the bearing as brakes are binding on and too little from 1 or 2 compared to other means not doing their share.
The slack adjuster on them is basically a bolt at the back of the ram. As you tighten the bolt, it pushes the ram forward. The bolt is held in position with a lock nut. As said, if much adjustment is required, you'll need to remove the lever from the camshaft, and move it back a couple of splines. When you have the lever removed, put a vice grips on the camshaft and see how many degrees you can rotate it by hand. New brakes would give you about 20 degrees of movement. Anything up around 80 degrees of movement means the brakes need replacing.
Thanks lads. I was pulling the trailer at silage and I found the brakes very poor, I'll try that before I pull it the next time
Bought a new to me Jcb tm200 today.
Hopefully it will be lucky.
A fine machine.
Hopefully.
I know absolutely nothing about them.
Are Kubota mowers just rebranded vicons?
Best of luck with it. Regular greasing, as us dairy farmers are known for, and regular servicing should be fine.
Yes.
Did they buy kubota I assume?
How well rated are vicon and or kubota these days ?
The other way around.....
so kubota bought vicon?
But dropped the vicon name and now brand vicon mowers as kubota? (Hence the earlier post of a rebadged vicon). That’s doesn’t make a lot of sense from a brand value POV?
Any way are they well thought off? Am after a new one with no real knowledge or preferences.
I have a 9 year old conditioner vicon ,very strong mower heavy on the back end .Only problem I find is hooking up to it ,if not on level ground is a ball ache .it is identical mower as kleverland model .I bought mine s/h and it given me good service .What price are they working out at ,The identical kleverland conditioner 10 foot was over 16k 5 years ago
Had a Vicon CM2400 for 10 years. It was a great mower to cut and never gave any bother. They weren’t the strongest built but mine never cracked or broke as I minded it and drove sensibly with it.
You can still get new Vicon’s as far as I know. There is a 100 series and 200 series. I had the equivalent of the 124. The 200 series look to be very well made.
Kubota bought Kverneland.
People don’t realise how big a brand Kubota is worldwide as they were never a big brand here.
A few years back I read that Kubotas profit was more than John Deere’s turnover!
I'd be surprised at that tbh, certainly if you just account for the agri industry.
I know of 1 Kubota tractor in 3 counties in the midlands.
I also know of 1 Class Cougar 1400
Kubota vicon and kevenderland are all the same company now,the mowers are all the same only different colours and stickers,KV mowers are great mowers to be fair
Has the Vicon mowers lost their 3 blade saucers now? Shame if they have.
Still have them.
I sincerely doubt the mowers are the same. When brands get bought they don’t just magically drop 2 of the designs.
All three brands would have their own production facilities etc, their own supply chains etc and their own price points which is key.
I am sure as updates are made to machines they may try to maybe some synergies if it makes sense but the goal would never be to have identical machines as then they lose the internal competition.
No they still have them. Was how I recognised it in the first place
The 3 brands are Vicon mowers now. Only difference is the discs on Kv mowers are round and the covers on the belts on the Kv is slightly different to the Vicon and Kubota. Identical Vicon beds, Gearbox, frame etc on all three brands.
Wow. So it was the vicon design that was kept and extended.
Probably a decent difference in price along the three same sized mowers I assume.
Not sure on prices. I saw a Kubota in the flesh 2 weeks ago and it looked like a 100 series Vicon. From what I see on Dondeal, the Kv seems to be a 200 series Vicon. Open to correction on this as haven't seen the Kv in the flesh.
I looked at kverneland mowers a couple of years ago and I was impressed. The salesman said their bed takes alot more oil than other mowers which keeps it cooler for topping especially. Made sense to me but I bought a Malone after for the value...
