I had both mine replaced. Squeeking back now after 6 months! A few cross country drives across extremely sh!tty roads over the last few weeks has not helped things.
Beautiful sunny day today, trying to enjoy the bumper-to-bumper traffic using FSD only for the wipers to continually screech on the screen again and again.
Yay. Auto wipers.
Bumper to bumper traffic is one of AutoPilots worst aspects for me,…. It’s just too jerky and not smooth enough.
I often use the autopilot on N roads, don't have much motorways for my normal driving. A few things I am not mad on.
Perhaps the grease used was poorly applied? Car should be able to withstand a bit of pressure. Can be done at home acc. YT

I find it much better in the Y than my 2020 3 for some reason
I had a Y recently and found autopilot to be intolerable for slow moving M50 traffic, nowhere near as good as the German or Swedish equivalent. One of the things that annoyed me was that Lane keep assist disengaged when changing lanes using indicators and I had to manually reingage every time, also the wipers were shocking, turning on randomly all the time even when there wasn't a droplet of rain or spec dirt on the windscreen. There was no rain when I rented it so can't comment on what the rain performance is like.
With every other manufacturer, using the indicators pauses Lane assist and reingages automatically when completing the lane change. Teslas driving assistance system is certainly behind the competition.
Another issue I had was when using Autopilot in slow moving traffic, if the car in front accelerated it would leave at least 20-30 meters before deciding to accelerate and keep up with the traffic. In the end I just got sick of AP and stopped using it.
I hope Musk gets some sense and reintroduces radar across all models again. According to a Munro video, HW4 will reintroduce radar capability but time will tell whether they actually fit it again.
So having contacted my finance company and some of the we buy any car dealers, as well as tesla directly for a trade in value, theres 10-15k in the difference between my settlement value and the current value of the car. I was getting 26-33k offers. I guess I wont be moving on from Lady Grey for a while yet. Thats the impact of the price drop. There was 10-15k deducted from the model 3 range, and I can only imagine the impact on the first LR model Y delivered
In heavy traffic if you reduce the distance it works better. Find my new Y much better than my previous 3 with radar was in heavy traffic.
I find it doesn’t make a difference when ether set to 2 or 7 follow distance…
and didn’t the Vision update effectively turn the radar into a paper weight?
Same in my case. Will have to encourage the passenger side arm to deteriorate before the vehicle warranty is up.... I'd say a recent fast drive over the Sally and Wicklow Gaps and trips up north (more the distance than the state of the roads) probably encouraged the first, but I wasn't pushing it hard for long - just on sections with clear visibility ahead and noone else around.
I had it with the radar for a few years 😁
Never noticed any difference when it was disabled tbh.
Not sure why but the new Y is perfectly smooth where the 3 was jerky in stop start traffic e.g. M50 off ramps etc..
Yeh but Tesla are 10yrs ahead of the legacy OEM manufacturers man …. They’re all going bust one by one …
…
Just picked up my Model 3 today, what a car, very impressed with it so far! And a serious upgrade from my previous ICE!!
I've just completed my first software update to version 2023.2.12 - now wondering how the software update process works as this doesn't seem to be the latest update available??
I've noticed the car doesn't have park assist (it's not equipped with sensors but using Tesla vision instead I guess?). A quick search online shows that this update seems to be available already (version 2023.6.9?) But mine hasn't updated to that version yet....should I expect a flood of updates over the next few days/weeks to catchup as I've only collected or is it just not available to me yet?
Confused!!
It will come over the next few days. Are you connected to wifi as this can help?
Ah great, thanks for that!
Not connected to WiFi yet, but I'll pop out later on and connect it.
Congrats…which version of 3?
If you want the car to search for an update, toggle the update button to advanced and standard and back to Advanced (while connected to Wi-Fi) and it will go looking for an update, but remember updates are distributed entirely at the whim of Tesla, and that toggling trick only works once per day.
Did you pay for Park Assist? It's not free
I assume they mean just that it hasn’t got any parking sensors and uses the Tesla vision instead
I’m assuming they mean park distance control. Tesla vision.
Its the Long Range AWD, White/Black!
I just mean the equivalent of parking sensors basically - i.e. the red lines/chimes that would show up when you are reversing/driving into a parking space! Not the autoparking feature - didnt spring for that.
A lot of people have reported not having it, even after the latest software update. And they had to do a factory reset (think that's what it's called).
You can find some posts about it on here
That is a free feature though supposed to be included in the standard Autopilot isn't it, which I have.
Or have I got that wrong?
Yeah, it's a free feature included. It seems for new cars you'll have to do a reset to get it to appear
It appeared in our Y a week ago without having to do any kind of reset.
Seems to be that if you select the Advanced option to receive over-the-air updates as soon as they are ready for your cars particular configuration, they roll out a couple of weeks before the standard deployment cycle. Also this shouldnt be confused with enrolling in Tesla's Early Access Program for beta testing new features like FSD.
yes, and if you want the car to go and look for an update sooner that it would be deployed to your car naturally, you simply toggle between standard and advanced and it will seek out any any available updates for your car...
I have mine set to Advanced, and did the toggle trick last week and low and behold 10 seconds later there was an update available!
If I had to choose one, its the sliding centre console tray is by far the best accessory.
If you do wheel rotations yourself (should be every 10,000km), then a set of lifting puks is handy also.
Also, for when I want to pull the aeros off I have a set of 5-jaw wheel nut covers from Aliexpress that were fairly cheap and are still looking great 2 years later.
Enjoy the Tesla goodness!
