Maybe POM is not the answer in tough games - looking slow these days, Beirne really is not up to the level and behind McCarthy at 2nd row and behind Baird at blindside, and Crowley really is too inexperienced at this level with both Ross and Harry ahead of him. I would struggle to see any Munster players making the squad.
😀😀
Is this in an alternative universe?
whooooosh
Sexton could be in real bother here. This could be disatorous for the World Cup.
Punished for speaking the truth
I personally wouldn’t be starting sexton in the first two World Cup games. Obviously wouldn’t be ideal not having him in the warm ups if he does get a ban. Feel like there will be pressure from world rugby to have to best players on the pitch for the big games too
Presumably none of the officials filed any sort of complaint so this won't go anywhere
Indeed. But he should have been targeting his ire at his own team and the coaching staff.
Ruairdhi O'Connor said that it hasn't yet been dealt with due to employees being on annual leave in the EPCR
Hopefully if a ban does materialise it won't be overly long but World Rugby have taken a dim view on anything related to ref abuse. Look at Rassie.
There's no guarantee he will even be fit for the world Cup!
If Sexton isn't fit then who starts I wonder? Crowley surely advanced his case yesterday.
I reckon its Crowley with RB backing him up.
On the face of it that looks more like a French publication with no real evidence playing games with a RWC opponents Captain.
Not saying that Sexton is innocent here, but any time someone says 'we have tapes' before they just publicise the tapes there is as often as not shenanigans.
Rapport is South African.
As Realhorrowshow said it's Rapport who have the video of the incident. I wouldn't be at all familiar with South African media but they are, apparently, quite well respected. All we can do is wait and see I guess.
I don’t know. I think of that Australia game where they just showed so little faith in him. JGP constantly skipped him (passing to guys who basically didn’t make passes in the recent european cup final) in the first half.
Ross Byrne knows most of the other players, plays in a similar system and prob has a better knowledge of the plays.
I think Crowley is a better player right now and has a WAY higher ceiling but i think Byrne is the safe choice right now. I think they will trust him to make kicks, run the offense and trust in quick ball and the pack to take us home.
I cannot see Farrell dropping any of the first choice players who have brought the team to where they are today - assuming all are fit and raring to go.
Crowley has played execeptionally well in the last two big games but they were against a second string Leinster who nearly pulled it off and what was a poor enough Stormers. Munster could easily have had that match won by halftime with a bit more precision. Stormers would not rate anywhere close to La Rochelle.
Crowley was excellent yesterday, in the highest of pressure. Same against Leinster. He's jumped both Byrnes for me.
What exactly has Ross Byrne done? He has been fine for Ireland but nothing special.
I agree in theory but Byrne isn’t really a player that brought ireland anywhere.
I don't see Farrell dropping Byrne either but you can't make a mistake when sitting in the stands during a SF and his game in the final was so so whereas Crowley has had two good games, whatever you think of the opposition both were pressure games
Harry Byrne may get a look. He played fairly well this year, imo.
Was he injured or just not trusted for the ERC final?
I'm not sure, tbh
France v Ireland 6Ns fixture confirmed
Wasn’t injured, the decision was tactical as he was involved in the warm up. Unless he hadn’t been able to train earlier in the week but it was never announced. Frawley wasn’t being trusted at 10 except in case of emergency. So I think his versatility won out more so than anything else.
whats marseilles like as a town to visit?
& Leinster stopped playing in the 2022 final when Sexton went off. I agree re: pressure games & Crowley.
The best performance from a 23 year old Irish outhalf in a final....incl '09 DG in the Rocky Elsom show.
Murray and Crowley is who I'd want coming off the bench in the WC Final.
Crowleys composure under pressure the last few weeks must have delighted Farrell. He has it. IT been the knack of making the right decision at a key moment in the game in a split-second.
I need tickets for this!
