The Soviet Union was expelled from the League of Nations after they invaded a neighbouring country. Something similar might need to be done with Russia's UN membership. It's ridiculous that they have a security council veto they can use - at the very least they shouldn't be able to vote when a decision is about Russia. Obviously a complete reform is needed, or the UN/Security Council is completely non-functional.
Permanent membership of the security council for any country should be abolished, but it won't be.
BTW, which invasion by USSR resulted in expulsion from LoN? Poland 1920? Just curious as I was not aware of it.
You could open an entire thread on how Ireland and The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland are both misnamed so often.
A volunteer drives a fire engine to Ukraine.
Seems the start is finally drawing close. Best of luck to them. After reading Luke Harding's book on the invasion it only reinforces what a horrendous, criminal war Putin und his fascist army have waged and how important their defeat is (I say that as someone who isn't very optimistic about total defeat, but one can hope)
Probable the Ukrainians won't be launching a counter offensive via an interview with the BBC, but it is good to put this kind of thing out in order to continually agitate the Russians. Large scale attacks should only happen when and where Ukraine thinks they will have the highest likelihood of success.
This along with the BBC interview makes it look like a coordinated media release
alternative take
oh that they do! never been to China but worked with a few over the years, lunchtime when they were in the canteen was always a surprise!doubt a goat would eat some of it!cant be 100%sure but i think they were slurping down some sort of a bat and beetle stew one day...i never ate in there again after that! ....and if they come near my bollix ill have to take them out same as the 3 guys in the bar that time...with a pencil 😁
Of course they aren't a miracle but it'll be funny watch the latest wunderwaffe fail miserably
Just posted a video but it won't show...
I agree 50%. Using a person's proper title shows respect but some people you just can't respect, so...
A few weeks ago Zelensky said they weren't yet ready to launch counter offensive. When I posted that here someone said it was a ruse to distract the Russians and the counter offensive was underway.
Well, no. Turned out Zelensky was telling the truth.
I know they aren't going to announce on BBC "counteroffensive starts at 4am tomorrow" but I'd take this interview at face value. We're entering June, if there is going to be a big push it has to start very soon. Making false promises and not following through on them isn't a good look either.
Slightly off topic but I've noticed that in the past with some of your posts, no content appears, always thought you had just edited the post and it was blank.
But if you go to qoute the, twitter link appears in the quoted post 🤷♂️
Making false promises and not following through on them isn't a good look either.
That has to be the most asinine thing to say when referring to an ongoing war.
But I'd say that for many Russians, they no longer believe that they are winning, and they are becoming more and more outspoken about it too. But in Putins Russia, they cannot come straight out and say it of course. On the other hand Ukraine cannot even contemplate losing.
Jesus, they look like one ferocious body of men. Imagine their levels of morale and motivation.
If I'm an average Russian mobik, I'm looking hard for anything resembling a white sheet right now.
Weird...this is the link again.
Yes, would prefer they wait if they don't think they are as ready as they need to be, or believe their supporters have not yet provided enough weapons to have high confidence of a success, with minimum of casualties.
They lose enough lives already thanks to Russia, without launching large offensives prematurely to meet the timetables of others.
Kind of cool that it’s possible to use a drone that way. I wonder if a nearby trooper hooked up the Orlan for transport or if the drone actually has some kind armiture to grab stuff like this.
(Edit: I see it pulled from a minefield, so I guess the drone has a grabbing function. Very cool)
Speaking of Drones
This game has been released on Steam.
Use a drone and take out the orcs and steal back washing machines....I mean precious hardware.
Also as taken from the site:
30% of the net proceeds will be equally split between two Ukrainian organizations supporting non-offensive aid to the Ukrainian Armed forces: Come Back Alive and Army of Drones. This way, you can feel confident that your purchase contributes to a worthy cause. Once we’ve broken even on the game, we will increase this contribution, sending 70% of our net revenues to these good causes. The remaining 30% will be invested in further developing the game.
Yes. Drones are going to go a long way in the future.
Well the most obvious lie here is their claim that it possesses an artificial intelligence. That's clearly not possible since very few people in the Russian armed forces seem to possess actual intelligence and therefore cannot train it.
Given that the whole winter the talk has been of a big spring offensive and the Ukrainian ability to fight is largely dependent on foreign military aid, you're the asinine one if you think Ukraine can fail to deliver on that expectation and still receive endless support. Everyone knows the near future is key
The spring offensive, soon to be called summer offensive has had the Russians, panicked and on edge for months. Probably very effective in causing Russian and Wagner forces to be living in a state of panic and fear for months. So when the offensive does occur their ability to respond might be greatly reduced.
They're gonna go when they're ready to go, optics don't come into it.
When they feel they have enough men and materiel, when they have shaped the space and when they feel they can succeed, this is when Ukraine will go, end of story.
Anyone hear about the Ukrainian commander killed by his soldiers?
Seems there is pushback from Ukrainian soldiers after the Belgorod attack the other day.
That made me imagine one of these S350’s using its AI to emulate Russian Military intelligence, which results in the system hacking into the project’s bank account, bleeding it dry, and then automatically driving off to the dacha it bought itself with the proceeds :P
No.. but I'm sure you'll fill us in with all the details.
No, but I heard about the two Russian commanders killed on May 14th.
This is interesting if confirmed to be true.
beware the ides of March folks
