It will be interesting to see how this plays out now. Now it's official and the gloves are going to come off.
Both are GQP rather than GOP. Both are repellent. Both will sink to new depths to sink the other and it will turn off more potential voters than it turn on to their party.
The biggest problem the dems have is Biden. He is just (IMHO) such a weak candidate. I believe that the dems will still win in 2024 but really because the GQP nominee will be so repugnant to most voters. GQP voters will always vote GQP as we know. Lack of morals mean nothing to them as they have proven. But they will not win undecideds.
If the dems had a better candidate they would be able to sit back with popcorn and watch these offensive fleshbags degrade themselves and eachother.

I’d tend to agree. I do wish the Dems would find a better canditate. Biden’s just OK, but does give that Generic Movie President vibe.
If they pick Trump, Biden has a good shot of winning again (if the vote gets out). If they pick DeSantis they might get more moderate voters to consider him, however not selecting Trump might split thier vote. You might even get a load of MAGA faithful doing «write-ins» of Trump instead of selecting the GOP canditate.
The Dems still have a good shot of holding onto the White House, but really need to work on it.
What I wonder; if Trump is primaried out…what next? As is the theme of the thread’s title, what next for this car-crash of a human being if he can’t even get the GOP nomination? Will that election be stolen too? Will he just keep this nonsense going until age takes him?
I am not sure if Ron has a better chance. He has little beyond culture wars.
His most attention grabbing stunts so far have been breaking the 1st amendment and human trafficking. Neither seems to be that great for the independent voter.

Yes. Plain and simple.
DeSantis will be worse than Hilary, than Obama. Then there will be a lull for a bit while DeSantis and trump gang up on any other contenders. There will even be (brief) suggestions about them being on the same ticket. But who first? Then, bile ducts replenished, they will be back at eachother again.
The GQP has zero problem flip-flopping. Trump and his cultists will absolutely plumb their depths (And depths we have yet to see) in going after DeSantis. Assuming trump wins the nomination DeSantis will tow the GQP line for a while and all will be forgiven... for a while. Then they will start to eat eachother again.
In the unlikely situation where DeSanits wins the nomination then it's game over for the GOP and GQP: trump's cultists would rather spoil their vote/NOT vote than vote for DeSantis. I'm sure you'll have some cultist lie propagate out there stating that if you write his name in the ballot, it is valid as a citizen, blah blah. Que: Stolen election, MSM fake news, Woke Drag Queen LGBTQI+ assassination teams attempting to steal Jesus' assault rifles.

If Trump loses the primary to DeSantis or anyone else , he will absolutely claim that he was robbed and that the "RINO's rigged it!!!" and so on.
I highly doubt he'd stand as an Independent , but for Trump and his ego the best result would be for the GOP to crash and burn badly so he will do everything in his power to ratfúck them as completely as possible.
If the GOP won they could claim to have "moved on" , but if they lose Trump can still make it all about him, which is all that matters so Trump will make sure they lose.
That way , Trump can claim (in his head) that he totally would have won and only he could have brought back the WH , The Senate , The House blah blah blah. And in his mind he'll still be a winner because they cheated him out of it..
It's all about his ego , he couldn't give a damn about the GOP or anyone else.

What Elon wants either way is to convert is vast wealth into control of the government, so that the SEC will get off his back about manipulating stock markets, the FAA & FCC will get off his back about incompetence and gross negligence in aerospace, and the FTC and DOT etc. will get off his back about his exploding self crashing cars. I probably missed a few, like California looking at his lapses in building code, health and safety at Twitter. With a VP spot he could even try and get the EU off his back. The conflicts of interest clearly are inseparable.
Would he even be eligible to run? Given that he'd be #1 to take over in case something happens to the president, I think the same eligibility requirements would apply...
