Cheers for that. I know that the ditch are going at this from the angle of ‘if he’s doing this, what else is he doing?’ Rather that the monetary value of the tax.
It’s a bit of a non-story really. He can just say he ‘genuinely forgot and it’s paid now. Sorry.’ and that will be the end of it.
They are probably hoping he’d try something like Fidelma Healy-Eames did a few years ago after being stopped for no tax. She went into the Garda Station after to declare that the car wasn’t in use for the period untaxed (when you could still do that) and didn’t notice the Garda taking her declaration was the same one who stopped her. He did and she ended up in Court for making a false declaration along with the tax offence!
Upon mature reflection, it was an oversight on my part that the car was untaxed for the period in question......

Its a Mickey Mouse story from a rag and i'm no supporter of SD. Far more important things need to be reported like the state of the roads, the use of unnecessary speed bumps in areas where they're not necessary and with regards to SD why the hospital waiting lists are getting bigger.
