A pilot reskilling initiative being introduced for the Civil Service by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), a division of the Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform. This opportunity is open to existing staff, currently serving at grades below that of Executive Officer (EO), who will be recruited to work as ICT Specialists at Executive Officer level. Accordingly, applications are invited from eligible candidates for an interdepartmental competition for promotion to ICT Specialist (EO-level). The selection process for this competition will be by means of an aptitude test and competitive interview.

This is an interesting one for me, and a tad messy.

I got this e-mail recently internally and really liked the look of the job and what's entailed. I'm currently a CO and should be starting a new role in ICT within the service shortly. I haven't worked in IT in like 7 years though, so I'm a tad scared that they're going to expect me to know stuff I haven't used in years.

The role in question here upskills you from the get-go. So I applied and anyway, but by the time I hear something back I'll have probably started in the new place.

That’s brilliant, and yes thought I had basically failed it as I found the numerical test pretty tough and the logical test a tad confusing but I’ve been placed in the 60’s so I’ve surprised myself.

How'd you find interview? I thought the way they asked for examples based on your specific work experience left me less room to waffle, which was good!

Had my interview last Thursday. Asked them at the end roughly how long it would take to hear the results and they said a few weeks.

For those that have been interviewed, was it the standard EO competency based interview, or more focused on ICT.

Standard competency based interview. They did ask about IT experience and if id have a preference of what department I'd like to work. They also asked what side of IT I'd like to be involved in and why (Networking, programming, cyber security etc)
