We should probably start a thread on this fight/event.
Anybody going?
Shame she didn't go pro earlier but still the greatest women's boxer of all time.
She could have done what the men do and sit back and wait for Serrano but she took on another battle instead.
Total and utter respect.
Haha sober! The guy is one rung up the ladder from hanging around the boardwalk with a plastic cup
If Cameron is well prepared for a rematch I can’t see much chance for Katie. Lack of physical strength and power will see Cameron bully her again.
Not to go all walshb on it, but there were plenty of close rounds. A draw was not "a joke" especially when considering the other two judges gave it to Cameron by 1 round each.
The Lord works in mysterious ways!
Cameron started a lot of those rounds very quickly....and when those rounds last only 2 minutes then you are in trouble.
Whoever gave that fight as a draw should never judge again.
😅.. I had it 7-3.
separate to my individual rds scores I had it about 14 mins to 6 mins where Cameron was winning.. she was clear for me.
For some reason I can't stand the saying "in the pocket" in sport.
Rd 1 one easier rds to score
Yes, we all have it to Chantelle but KT’’s corner told her she won it and that wouldn’t have helped her thinking she was 1 up when she really needed to be more active. You could hear in the interview after that she thought she won the first few rounds.
I thought even waiting for the verdictKatie looked like someone who knew she did not win. There was a real air of defeat in her stare.
I can’t see this happening, but I’d hate to hear in a few days excuses coming out and thoughts of “I thought I deserved it.”
The Referee was excellent by the way.
Next time I see Sparkle Lee Refereeing I will have a lot of confidence in her.
Off to leaba now hoping to get up for big fight in Vegas later!!!!
Katie is a good honest person and when she looks back at the fight she will know that it was a fair result.
Hopefully. I think you’re right here.
Taylor gone way down in my estimation with her friendship with McGregor.
Shes finished now anyway.
According to Hearn, rematch in Dublin in the Autumn, pretty shít Cameron has to travel "away" again. Could have had the fight in one of the many* world class venues in Northampton.
*May not be true. May not be any.
I must also say that Chantelle Cameron has come across very well throughout.
It'd be very hard to dislike her, a real sportswoman and no BS.
Doubt she has any friendship with McGregor. He's only centre ringside because he half funded the fight.
I kind of understand this, but seems to be him latching on to her to try make himself out to be just wonderful.
How friendly are they? He was a sponsor for this fight. They seem like chalk and cheese and can't see anything they would have in common.
He has supported her a few times now. There doesn’t seem to be any hidden agenda to it, he is passionate about Ireland and combat sports, and she is a big deal, and he has always spoke well of her. She has always been polite back, but they are 2 very different personalities. As much as Katie is an angel and everyone loves her, I would say McGregor is more one of the people, only his people are the brash, full of themselves, somewhat rough crowd that head out at the wknd to the Mecca ‘the black forge’, and often they get to see Conor. The average Katie fan never get near her.
I am not sure Katie will take a rematch unless she really believes she can beat Cameron, and I can’t see how she would think this.
Tried her heart out tonight and was still bossed all night.
She hardly wants her next fight to be back in Dublin with another loss back to back) being a real possibility. It would put a real damper on her career status in my view.
Close, but at least 6 if not 7 clearly to Cameron. Not in a million years would any neutral, competent judge score that fight a draw.
99% of the time I feel the immediate call for a rematch by fighters is a pride thing, I think when the dust settles she'll rethink her options because if Taylor's team are honest with themselves and her then they'll realize a rematch is not worth the risk.
In the post fight presser there is talk from Cameron of the rematch being at 135.
All in all I think Taylor should have retired after the Serrano win. I said it at the time and I wish she had done it. These gruelling fights will take years off her and she is not young. If she wants to continue I think she’s be better dropping down a weight or two. She could easily make featherweight.
She's only starting to make the big money, it's not like shes on Tyson Fury $
I said same. Reached the summit after beating Serrano.
Gary Cully lost as a 1/33 favourite. Jaysus. What happened?
