I think every team should be in transition to a degree at all times..you need a couple of fresh faces coming along every year to keep moving forward..if you keep with the same team they will all grow old together
He was right about jj too..still is
Of course he didn't use it as an excuse, they went onto win the all Ireland that year!
If you read the piece he said that they were "heading into transition". So you were wrong, he did use the word. (You're "didn't use it as an excuse" is shifting the goalposts.)
He, however, was right. They were heading into seven years of failure/transition. Looking back it was an early prediction of their current state of drift. But your hero did let the 'T' word slip alright.
The Tipperary Minor Footballers play Cork in the Munster semi final this Thursday evening at 7pm in FBD Semple Stadium
"Shifting the goalposts ", my " hero", WTF !
The career of Gareth Howard. Senior club county medals in three counties. All-Irelands and leagues with two counties. Railway cups with two provinces.
His daughter Liz was Tipp PRO for a number of years.
Tipp team for Sunday
Surprised with Shelly getting the start but I suppose when you concede 7 in 2 games some of that is coming back on the keeper.
Connolly in for added size and I'd expect him to settle back in the full back line.
Think Bonnar was always earmarked for Limerick and he'll be asked to give it hell for 50 minutes.
Stacked bench also to drive it home if needed.
Think it will be closer than what the bookies think, bit of a free shot as we should get past Waterford next week.
And a very, very odd person on Twitter
Don't know anything about her twitter but I always found her to be very efficient at a time when she was dealing with a lot of old dinosaurs and Tipp weren't going particularly well either.
A relative of mine wants to go to the match Sunday, he wants a terrace ticket, hasn’t a smart phone, can you still purchase tickets in centra and super value?
Got tickets in centra on Thursday
hope im wrong but fearing big backlash from limerick today. If we still with them up to 55minutes id be happy.
I'm expecting a tough game but giving us every chance. Would have liked to have Jayo today but it's not to be. Looking forward to a good game of hurling, though I'm hoping the weather will dry up a bit.
Fantastic game. What an effort, deserved a draw at least. You could see the difference from last year in the number of blocks hooks and tackles. Encouraging displays from the younger players such as Bowe bodes well
Savage performance today lads… some difference Liam Cahill has made to this team. I thought the ref was very hard on Tipp also, some terrible decisions.
Yeah sure what did he book Barrett for,all he did was pull the helmet off Flanagan, very harsh
Pulling helmet off isnt harsh. has to be a card. every time.
Agree but te wrong colour
So if Waterford beat us and cork beat Limerick, where does that leave us!
Why should it only be a yellow. think tampering with player equipment like a helmet should be straight red no questions
If waterford beat tipp and there is a winner in the Limerick Cork game tipp are 3rd and into quarters
Poor calls from the ref today, pulled up bonner for a good handpass and let lynch throw a pass right of front of him a minute later plus several more throws. Gave limerick a couple of relieving frees from the half back line . Great hurling and fight from the lads today
Cracking game. Whole new level of intensity for many of the new lads.
Bryan O Mara was my man of the match. He took lots of ball from the back and the goalkeeper and made great use of it, often under immense pressure, Ronan similarly, his distribution was immense.
Bonnar was worth his place. Mark Kehoe had a great first half, poor second half. The Tipp backs made some fantastic blocks. We left their half backline lots of space in the second half, we were lucky it didn't cost us more. Stakelum got through some amount of tackles.
That's a big thing for me, now I need to go back and watch it but it looked like we retreated in the second half and allowed their half back line to take over. You simply cannot do that against limerick you have to stay pushed up.
So a couple of weeks back half the country ( mainly joe Duffy listener types who never went to a match) were up in arms over the Cork tipp match being on gaago. Now they're up in arms because the tipp Waterford match is NOT on gaago! I said at the time that because of the likes of donal og and other muppets we will end up back where we were years ago and only get to see few games on tv.

John Keenan to ref Tipperary v Waterford
