🙄🙄
I own an AK-74, a surprisingly pleasant and fun weapon to shoot. Ammo is a bit hard to come by these days, though. I suspect it's all going to a certain fairly large Eastern European country.
The AK-47, however, I have little time for. Don't like it.
I fired one (47) and then an AR15 just after, the AR is a much better feeling gun. I didn't like it at all, everything felt a bit vague and cheap, especially compared to the AR and other ones I was using.
Anyway, a bit off topic, apologies.
Really?
One if the most reliable guns ever made is "not that great"?
With Bakhmut looking like it will fall soon were the Ukrainian counter attacks on the flanks to ensure they'd have a smooth withdrawal when the time comes?
I think you've got the flags backwards?
Without the jets, Ukraine is having to improvise, officials say. Defense officials and congressional staffers told CNN that Ukrainian troops have in recent weeks used the US-made Patriot air defense system to shoot down at least one faraway Russian fighter jet. The Russian jets have largely been staying behind Russian defensive lines, making them difficult for Ukraine to target with shorter-range systems like NASAMs.
I'm surprised that news flew under the radar (no pun intended) I guess only 1 patriot battery is in Kyiv and the other a lot closer to the Frontline as I would have expected.
It's doable out to 160 km ,
Why would they keep it quiet,
The last reported jet(s) being taken down.... was in the Bryansk triangle.
So was that the patriot system?
If so, it's understandable Ukraine wouldn't advertise it. But had it been within Ukraine, I'd have expected Ukraine to troll Russia.
It's would still be out or range from most of Ukraines cities even if the 2nd patriot battery was another Ukrainian city and I honestly can't see the moving one close to front lines at all ,
Looks at the confirmed ranges of patriot missles pac 2 and pac 3 are pretty much shorter range, less than 90 km ,pac 1 has the longest range at 160km
The Ukrainans would have posted this everywhere for the world to see ,
The surviving medics survived because they refused to go near him after he had executed several of their fellow physicians. When he did not appear for breakfast on that morning, no one disturbed him for fear of the consequences. Later in the day, they sent in a maid into his room, and she found him lying on the floor. Medical help came then, but they were all still afraid to actually treat him, so the best they could do was move him off the floor, put him on a couch and cover him with a blanket. He'd had a stroke, or had been poisoned, they were not sure. But to reduce his blood pressure, they put leeches on his ear, and that was the limit of what they did. in terms of medical treatment. The terror he generated, ultimately killed him too.
But is it,
It's definitely made to looser tolerances than Western counterparts for use in the extreme environments of Russia ,but we've all heard some claim or another where you could drop one into a swamp or jungle environment and come back 20 years later pick it up and it will shoot perfectly fine at the first attempt, if it was I'd happily hand it to the next person to the next person while I go look for a med kit,
PAC-2 is the long range missile at 160km so it's well within range, but it would be surprising having them that close to the Frontline. Then again it's not an active Frontline, NE in Ukraine. Most of the action is in the east and south.
I fired a Charleville musket once. A bang like the end of the world and smoke everywhere. Great fun. Not particularly useful in the current conflict, though, I suspect. 😁
That rules out Kiev and Odessa and most other Ukrainian cities,
I don't see them moving one remotely closer to the front lines,we know one is active in Kiev, the other one would be probably in Kiev too ,
That's what you would have said about a tractor tbh.
Black powder beasty along with similar to Brown bess and other smooth ball muskets
The AK47 may not be great in terms of what other weapons are out there, but for sure, it has killed and injured more people than any other weapon on the planet. I've seen them being manufactured in small shed's in the back of ordinary houses in Pakistan, and for sure, if they are being manufactured under these conditions in Pakistan, they're being manufactured whole sale in other Countries too. They work all too well unfortunately, and under extreme conditions. There's the basic AK 47, but there are several types. I've seen ones that fire amour piercing bullets. And they work too, they will penetrate an APC, bounce around inside and cause a lot of injuries. You can expect to find them in any corner of the world. There's something very disconcerting when you meet a 10-11 year old kid walking around at night on guard duty in his village, carrying an AK47. and he knows how to use it too.
Game changer?
NATO still isn't disbanding boss
no, 'Settlements' is not the same than 'cities'. He didn't cite properly.
True, true.
I suppose one good thing about this whole **** show is people might start to question the backers and clients of the various military industrial complexes worldwide.
Either the taking of the flanks of Bakhmut or the takeover of the city, I mean who really profits?
I'm just going by the fact that Ukraine have lost more ground in the city itself when they we're already down to the last few blocks. Russia just throwing wave's at them and levelling everything.
The gains on the flanks were big and very welcomed. Whether they were to stop any attempts of an encirclement or a bigger plan to encircle Bakhmut we'll see.
But what it has done is cause the Russia army to take more losses, lose more ground and start to panic. But most importantly forced Russia to send a lot of reinforcements. They were hard fought gains they lost in a few days.
The people of Ukraine who are trying to get rid of the invading rapists and murderers. Is it really complicated to understand why Ukraine doesn’t want Russia invading and are fighting back?
When I was in Syria, all of our " drivers" had ak-47's. Ancient ones. Constantly getting sand encroaching in the mechanism. Always used to waste ammo by firing into the air at any opportunity. Even in public places. A common practice during weddings. Rust-covered, battered museum pieces, but always fired. Ammo wasn't in short supply at the end of 2010 I can tell you!
I'll try to dig out photos later.
This is a very , very balanced and very fair suggestion,. Why. Russia has been waging war on UKr soil and The UKr has defended itself , exclusively on UKr soil and has kept away from attacking Ru on Ru soil. So it would be fair that the The DMZ be on RU soil and that there be no military activity on same soil by either soil
Looks like Russia are trying to stretch the air defense systems again,5 drones and 3 out of 6 cruise missiles found targets
Sure why don't you start getting Russians to question it and let us know how you get on. They are the ones who have launched an unprovoked war of aggression against their sovereign and independent neighbour Ukraine, and in waging that illegal war conduct it using war crimes and atrocity as a matter of course. The sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine which Russia accepted in the Budapest Agreement. In exchange for which, Ukraine gave up strategic offensive weapons.
So the message Russia has sent to the world is clear, if you de-arm yourself we will attack you whenever we want and ignore any treaties we signed when convenient.
Is that what you meant?
yes. It is reliable and easy to maintain and service, but it does not mean its a great shooter. Depends what you want to do with it.
