Some awful footage of this. Now being covered in media. Really disgraceful

Seriously???
Concussion, broken teeth and a visible footprint on his face is not merely a black eye.
Choice to goto hospital? What planet are you living on? He was badly beaten up and needed medical intervention.
Wow. The only reason the assault was wrong was because someone recorded it. What an absolutely disgusting stance to take.
I’m not calling them thugs because they allowed themselves to be filmed. I’m calling them thugs for their vicious assault.
but will meet you half way. Idiots for allowing their thuggish behavior to be filmed.
He didn't say that though.
That’s obviously not what I said. Maybe read my post in relation to the one I had responded to.
The reality is that the kids involved in this may not even be expelled from school.
I hope there is a way to stop the video circulating as I'd imagine the psychological damage of knowing that it is out there and being circulated may be as, if not more damaging, than the physical attack.
I've not watched the video, but the resultant injuries sound horrific. I've only read part of the thread, but I sincerely hope the animals are made examples of and have a criminal record at minimum. I've no time for a 'the pure fellas will have their lives ruined' sentiment. The damage they seem to have inflicted on the poor guy demands significant punishment. We cannot have psychos seeing a slap on the wrist is all the consequences of such a heinous act.
Throw the book at them.
Just Last night a 17 lad in Dublin was half beaten to death,it was thought he was actually murdered when the emergency services arrived , he's currently in a serious condition on Beaumont hospital,
The lad lad in the video is at home nursing a concussion and damaged teeth and some bruising according to his family
What's your point?
Whatever about your own experiences, the reaction to this incident is far from over the top. People are disgusted, and rightly so.
Some weird weird people in this thread thinking an assault like this happens daily in schools. No idea what **** schools you lot went to...
Calling it a 'fight' is nonsense too.
That must make him doubly lad
I dunno we’re brewin’ up a storm ..
Lad he has a concussion and his flipping teeth broken
he went by choice? Jesus are you even reading this yourself?
They should be expelled though.
Agree with you on the video.
All these guys will get is a slap on the wrist when they do get their day in court. Easily identified from the video though and hopefully that lads father or male relatives will give the hardmen a bit of proper justice in the mean time.
Expulsion isn't as straightforward as people seem to think. I've seen so many attempted expulsions overturned that I wouldn't be shocked if none of those involved were expelled.
On this, who overturns these?
Is it some independent panel, the Board of Management or something else?
I think when violence is an issue, students and teachers have a right to feel safe in the classroom and in school, and there should be zero tolerance for that.
In my day the wind would catch the door n poof yer gone with it but they’re squarin’ up to the teachers now; fair game no questions asked
-and no my day wasn’t so long ago!
Dig up.
Can you imagine how that poor lad would feel, if he had to go back tinto that school and share a classroom with his attackers?
The sad thing is, it will probably be he who will end up moving to a different school.
If he were my child, he wouldn't go back there while they were still there.
It's highly likely that's where this ends suspension followed by some restorive practice sessions and it will be forgotten about, no trial of any kind no matter who comments on the story, like every other case of bullying in schools every day
How do you nurse broken teeth?
The Education Welfare Officer is usually involved. Appeals are made to the BOM in the first instance and then to the Dept of Ed. Harder to expel students under 16 because of their right to Education, though scant regard tends to be taken of the right to Education of other students in the school who may be affected by said student.
This is the advice given to young people facing expulsion:
I've added this interesting screen shot from the spunout website.
Would the fact it didn't happen in school be of any consequence to what the school can actually do?
RE the video, no it's out there it can't be retrieved. Unless a judge makes it a criminal offence to distribute it, even at that peer to peer cannot to policed.
In all liklihood the secondary schools finish up pretty soon as the junior and leaving certs kick off in about 3 weeks.
I'd say this will get put on the long finger until the summer holidays start and then quietly disappear
Painkillers until a dentist appointment id assume
Probably several dentist appointments in reality right?
He is 14, his teeth are not going to grow back no matter how much nursing he does, correct?
I suspected that re the video but hoped that someone more IT proficient than me might be aware of something that could be done. I've had the bloody thing pop up on my twitter feed three times today alone and I've no desire to watch it/pass it on. Has to be upsetting for the kid and his family and friends.
Re location, we've disciplined students for fights etc off campus.
I think that's a likely potential outcome
You can do sweet f all to scum like that in this country and they know it....when it comes to discipline/behaviour etc our everyone has a right to education but some of those availing of it have no responsibilities and those that have to deal with them have little or no authority system has been gradually getting worse over the years.
Put simply there are very little consequences for being a scumbag anymore...or at least consequences that are meaningful for said scumbag and applied in a timely fashion.
It's never mentioned anymore....its all thoughts and prayers for the victim and they have our solidarity and what must have gone wrong in the attackers lives that they behave so appallingly...followed by streams of brain fart ideas beginning with the sentence stem "we need"
Instead of applying a consequence that would make the other little **** think twice about doing something like that and might make their parents a bit more pro-active in putting manners on them early in life etc
We seem to be attempting an all carrot no stick approach to dealing with thugs in all walks of life.
No idea,
Any dentists here ?
