I recomend this 1984 British movie from internet archives:

Nothing new , may contain guilty pleasures.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) 10:30p.m. Wed 08 Mar 2023 on ITV4 HD “It’s the story of three bums that go around through the Civil War looking for money.” After nearly three hours runtime it builds to a climax with said three guys standing motionless in a graveyard. Worth watching for the music alone. It's an anti-war film that came out during the Vietnam War. While watching it remember the characters can only see what's on the screen.
Shane (1953) 9:30p.m. Fri 10 Mar 2023 on TG4 (HD) traditional cowboy film before the spaghetti westerns

Mulholland Drive will be on this Thursday at 11:20pm on Film4.
Tomorrow evening from 9 on BBC Four, two classic westerns with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, followed by Mel Brooks' hilarious farce that many folks of a less than stellar character who watch it don't seem to realise they're the butt of the joke, it's Blazing Saddles.
Erin Brockovich is on TG4, all talk about Julia Roberts and her bra but Albert Finney is very good in it
Re-Animator will be on HorrorXtra tonight at 11.
Raging Bull on tonight at ten past 1 on RTE 1.
Tonight
True Romance TG4
Beautiful Boy RTE 2
The Nice Guys RTE 2 at 11pm tonight
Speed on tonight at 11.50pm on RTE2. It will be 30 years old next year, little hope of any bus in a city getting up to 50mph these days 😁
This is off topic but this thread is the nearest to general discussion I could find.
The writers strike is about the use of AI in film production- I have googled it but don’t understand how an AI can write or even rewrite a story. Or for that matter edit a cut of a movie.
Can someone explain please?
@Spon Farmer how an AI can write or even rewrite a story?
Here is AI powered search engine response to your question.
But off-topic for this thread.
Currently watching 'Doomsday Device' on Sky Sci-fi, staring Corin Nemec (aka Jonas Quinn SG-1)
Edit: - They don't need to worry given the quality of this?
The Frost AI-Generated Short Film from Waymark
Story behind that video creation: -
Edit 2: - Another one I came across on youtube:-
Last Stand | Sci-Fi Short Film Made with Artificial Intelligence
It’s just a movie, made mostly with AI, which took care of writing the script, creating the concept art, generating all the voices, and participating in some creative decisions.
ALIEN ENCOUNTER - INSPIRED BY ALIEN FILM
Rip off a classic story (easier if copyright expired) eg :Barb Wire with Pamela Anderson is a remake of Casablanca. Mythology is also good if you change the settings. Or just redo it in space https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/RecycledInSpace/LiveActionFilms
Structure https://avfilmschool.com/save-the-cat-beat-sheet-the-15-beats-explained/
Search and replace all the nouns.
For Airplane the Zucker's and Abrahams used the Zero Hour script and added jokes and sight gags. "Over Macho Grande?" "No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande."
At the other end of the spectrum AI couldn't be worse then Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer.
Wild Rose is on RTE 1
Walk the Line is on RTE 1
Dark Waters is on RTE 1
Not a recommendation but .......
It was a handy channel to watch classic movies, will anyone else miss it?
Following its closure, TCM has directed TV viewers to Quest if they want to continue watching their favourite films.
Virgin Media has 'Quest Red' on basic plan which isn't the same channel.
I've a load of films recorded off it. Last time a channel went all the recordings went too 😔
Whose to bet it won't have the selection of obscure classics that you won't get anywhere else as well? Just all the popular stuff that airs later in the evening?
I skimmed through the TV guide and all I could see over the next few days was one western. Everything else was reality TV
I think this is a bit of a rarity, Sky Arts will be showing Following, the 1998 debut film of Christopher Nolan.
21:00 on Saturday 15th July
I've noticed since TCM disappeared I seem to have access to a channel called FilmBox (arthouse). Some weird titles in the schedule but over the next few weeks they're showing things like Bicycle Thieves, Nosferatu, Rashomon, Metropolis, and Rome, Open City. Also have a couple of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton shorts too.
@TICKLE_ME_ELMO Is that on SKY or Virgin? If on Virgin what channel number.
Sorry I'm with Eir.
Channel around since 2021?
SPI/FilmBox expands in Ireland with eir
Yeah, it's been on my TV guide for ages, I just didn't have access to it. But now it seems Eir are giving that instead of TCM
Watching The Green book right now, I’ve seen it before but never realised that the character played by Vigo mortenson ( who became an actor after his career as a bouncer ) played Carmine ( New York mob boss) in The Sopranos
Can anyone recommend a big budget action movie to watch?
Something that takes itself seriously maybe or else over the top fun.
Something sci-fi maybe?
Is there wan app that recommends movies?
