The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Coming May 12th, 2023 – Nintendo Switch
The title for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been revealed! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will launch on Nintendo Switch May 12th, 2023.
Digital Foundry says it runs great so you will be fine on switch unless you just want to be contrarian?
Mine arrived from Smyths!
How is it stupid. If you love games surely you want to see them at their best. Washed out graphics that are not even HD in 2023 and 30fps. Nonsense.
Digital details.
Normally a comment like this I would delete, because it is frankly a trolling comment.
However, there is merit in leaving it up, serving as an example to all of what a stupid question looks like.
Probably so they can sell it at 60 for the rest of the console's life, not to mention strong-arming you into dropping 300+ on the console itself which they're selling a healthy profit as it's aged tech and Nintendo seem to be the only ones capable of consistently making it sing. Guessing it's an easier sell to shareholders than season passes, other such nonsense and having in the bargain bin this time next year.
Mine is in the hands of the amazon prime gods. WFH tomorrow and hope it turns up. I will then be waiting until 5pm to play it.
Or it might be up on other regions eshops already as it's May 12 in Oceania and soon south east Asia.
Unless you mean pirato version then sorry bub we don't do that round here.
Why isn't this cross platform? Such a waste having Zelda games on poor hardware.
@RobbingBandit said above you can get the digital version at midnight tonight and jump in right away. 👍
Kotaku did an article telling people to pirate Metroid Dread. Think they even gave instructions on how to do it.
Oddly Nintendo didn't approve.
Wishing I went with Smyths rather than the digital version.
Nintendo are unreal. I can't believe we have another brilliant and most importantly FUN game from them. It's like they shadow dropped Christmas on everyone. 😁😁😁
Just watched the Digital Foundry review, overall very positive and that patch improves performance noticeably. But what he said at the end of the video interests me more than the tech stuff - it’s a more crafted game than the first, a more interesting open world it sounds like. Looking forward to playing it later tonight.
There are digital copies, right? Haven't been following the release so will probably pick it up at some stage.
Oh? Why's that?
It’s inappropriate the government didn’t rush through legislation to declare an impromptu bank holiday when they saw copies arriving and the reviews dropping, honestly.
Yes! See you all at Christmas!
Yeah, it doesn't seem to be doing too bad.
Who will be the first controversial one?
Be interesting to see a kotaku review since Nintendo blacklisted them.
4 out of 5 from Eurogamer. Not bad.
Yup, 10s flying around.
Reviews are up now. Scores As expected tbh for a Nintendo flagship game.
Postman just dropped off my copy of the collectors edition. Time to spend another 500+ hours in Hyrule.
The listing for the TOTK console shows a banner saying its a bundle now. Says in the description that the game is not included though. Wonder which it is?

It's hard to know where it'll land score wise. It could be better overall than BOTW, but as a sequel it won't have that wow factor that the first had.
You'll have garbage sites like Nintendo Life(Death ☠️) that will automatically give it 10/10 and on the other hand you'll have the likes of Jim Sterling perhaps looking for attention, they been at it already in the last number of days. And they had one of the lowest scores for BOTW. There's quite a few will be give perfect 10's whether it deserves it or not and the same with the lower scores. This is the first Switch exclusive game(for now) and that's going to play a part in the scores.
I think some are going to score it high as a Switch swan song and to try and to outdo its predecessor. So for that reason I will say 97% on Metacritic, the same as BOTW. Maybe 98%.
I don't know if it does or not, but if there's no underwater gameplay and exploration, I'll be disappointed.
Half an hour until the review embargo lifts.
Smyths made Christmas day come a day early..😁😁😁
my smyths copy showed up with the tag. I guess todays plans have changed slightly!
Just arrived in time for lunch. Time to blast through tutorial area again!
My copy just arrived. God bless Smyths. Gonna be a long day until I get a chance to dive in later
Got the Collector's Edition. Just about to jump into the game. Didn't think I'd be playing it the day before.
Got a surprise when taking the sleeve off the box as it shows something that was not shown previously!
It does all fit nice together. Happy the artbook is hardback. The game for me was sealed but it doesn't have the PEGI logo on it due to it being on the outside of the box.
The Iconart steel poster has a good feel to it but I would have preferred a statue like in the Collector's Edition for Breath of The Wild. Little pins look cool, I'm sure they will mean something soon. The steelbook itself is beautiful and one of the better ones.
I have the quick download it has on it to update it and now I'm about to start - already seen a bit of the beginning.
Enjoy it all! :)
Just an fyi for those who pre-ordered at a higher price from Smyths.
As part of the Smyths Toys pre-order price promise, if our price on the date of collection or dispatch is less than the price at the time of placing your order, you will pay the lower price. In cases where a money off voucher was used when placing your order, you will receive either the benefit of our pre-order price promise or the money off voucher, not both together.
