Tesla wall connector is included on the list of approved chargers. I think it is the EEE list or something like that
I thought the charge point grant had been changed in that the grant is only available now for smart charge points that can use excess solar, I don’t see that mentioned after a quick look at the seai site though.
anybody know if that’s the case?
if it is only for smart charge points then the charge point is expensive but you will get €600 back.
if it has not been changed from its original form then a dumb untethered point can be around €200 inc vat to buy and you might be lucky to get it bought and installed for less than the grant (you used to get €600 regardless of cost).
You don’t have to go back to the consumer board now and can fit an mcb and feed in the meter box - a lot handier for people in newer houses as the meter box tends to be near the drive.
my electriciation friend bought a dumb charge point a few months back (it’s just a type 2 outside socket) for his phev, wired it in himself and never applied for a grant. He uses the timers in the car to charge at nightrate.
I hope the grant conditions have not been changed as it means those without the budget for a smart charge point (or who cannot get solar pv) don’t get any assistance - a tad unfair for those buying an ev on a tight budget.
What is the capacity of the MYLR battery? Reading that it’s 78.1 with a usable capacity of 75? Would that be correct
What kind of consumption do people get on on short local trips? After the 10km school run round trip this morning, nothing over 60km/h, the trip computer showed 85 Wh/km. Was the trip too short to be accurately measured?
I have one since start February. It was €699 after the grant (including ct clamp).
The app is good and the unit itself is nice and compact. It will also support solar integration if required in future.
If you have an electric shower, it also supports load balancing (reduces current to car while shower is in use to ensure no overload / tripping).
I really like it overall however there are some software issues that have been reported related to wifi disconnects that were also happening to me but have since been fixed (for me at least).
The zappi is also a popular charger and would have the same features as the wallbox pulsar plus.
Ultimately you will probably be fine with either though.
I'd suggest getting a couple of quotes and taking it from there.
If you have, or intend to get Solar panels, then get one that is compatible. Zappi and Wall-box are, there's a few others aswell. If not then a basic one will do you. You can buy it yourself separately and then get an electrician to install and sign off on the forms and possibly even get it done for nett zero or close to it.
My son had a Wall-box installed recently and it was €1300. The €600 grant then comes back from the SEAI, in a couple of weeks.
thanks for all your help folks. Somebody in work said Pulsar wallbox, any thoughts on these, I'm not looking for anything fancy ???
There's lots of specialist companies that install car chargers, Google is your friend here.
Apply for the grant approval first, that lasts for 6 months.
The €600 grant is paid back to you after the paperwork for the installation goes in.
2. Maybe see if you can switch to a good night rate with your electricity supplier.
3. You can survive with the granny cable, but it's very slow.
4. For public chargers you will probably need an Esb, easy-go and maybe plug-surfing accounts.
5. If you order through a referral link, then both you and the referrer get credits that can be used for rewards in the Tesla store, including supercharging.
There are a few but again all depends on your wants/needs.
Zappi, Ohme, Wallbox, Hypervolt, Tesla wall connector etc
The things you need to answer for yourself first are...
Ultimately they will all charge your car. Its down to cost, features, looks etc.
Looks great and best of luck, enjoy.
And thanks for uploading pic..👍️
super, thanks KCross.
Just on the type of charger, what is the most popular one, I need a little bit of guidance here otherwise I'm likely to pick on up in Aldi
Picked up this afternoon, delighted to say the least. Need to work out how everything works now. 7 days from order to delivery, well impressed.
Hi Joni & Folks,
I am in the same boat but hoping it comes in a few weeks! a few more questions!
Thanks!
Hi Folks,
I hope to get a Model Y in a few months but I know nothing about the charger situation. Can somebody please advise me;
Never thought of that, cheers
I thought I'd read that about the wipers alright, I done a soft reset today but it didn't give me the "improved" Tesla vison parking warning or wiper change. Looks like factory reset is the way forward. Thanks
Will be great, welcome aboard 👍
Just ordered the model y. Sent the documents to the bank so hopefully it will all go well. 🫣
Just need to sell my own now.
Have one of the old grey bulky ones, just left it in a tray in centre console and open lid when needed - MYP
I stuck it to the left of the front camera module. The tag is a modern small black tag unlike the older bulky grey tag.
Oh really? That’s great thanks, didn’t fancy sticking anything to the windscreen
Put it in your arm rest.
For those with a tolltag where did they install it on their Y? There’s no dotted area behind the rear view mirror.
In addition using voice controls (right scroll wheel) works well to turn wipers on or off or increase or decrease wiper speed
Thanks. Hopefully that will sort it.
The deposit should be enough as you'll get a booking invoice auto generated in your account which should be enough if you are going for an EV / Green loan. It definitely is with BOI anyway.
So I'm about to order a model y. But the bank want an invoice before they will release funds. Once I pay the 250 can I generate this? Or do.i need to contact tesla?
After the latest update you can control the speed of the wipers from the left wheel. Press left or right after first pressing in wiper switch on stalk.
I don't believe you can turn off the charging pad.
