wtf is going on? Bizzarre
For years ehh? They were founded April 3rd 2021 so i guess you are technically correct but only by about 4 weeks
It is also noteworthy that this seat has been occupied by a member of the Collins family since 1948! So Collins is one of the worst examples of what the youngsters call a nepo baby in Irish politics. It is this culture of entitlement that no doubt influenced his shady dealings in this matter.
That voting for family generations boggles my mind. Real tip the hat stuff.
Thankfully I don't think the young people coming on the register these days will have any of the same "loyalty" hangups.
Isn't that the problem and also people who will only vote for this party or that party no matter what, a party could have decent policies but people wouldn't vote for them because of the name of party. One that always got me is Sean Haughey, I can't remember anything he has done and yet he is elected time and time again. Don't even now if he does anything in his electoral area.
|The savage eye sketch comes to mind 'he fixshed the road'
Are they the first young people to register?
Nah that’s bollocks. Trying to steal credit to call them firings. Giving ditch more credit than they got. Now if they were actually fired or impeached sure.
You cant impeach a TD in Ireland.
So then, nobody was definitely ever fired and insinuations they would have been fired are horse crap?
Do I need to repeat it?
You cannot impeach a TD in Ireland. Thats all. Using the word 'impeach' is common in the American vernacular.
This is Ireland remember, not America. That's my point.
Stomp semantically all you want but you’re saying they weren’t going to be fired so people trying to accredit ditch with firings etc. is a misnomer.
You can check my record on this site all you want.
I'm no fan of the Ditch and its blatant political journalism.
But, ill repeat, one cannot impeach a TD in Ireland. Thats.A.Fact.
Now as a Yank blow-in, you can take it as a piece of learning, or you can argue about it. Up to you.
Thanks for the semantic argument but it doesn’t advance much against what I was saying. 🤷🏻♂️
It does, as if you were bothered to read on how one can actually censor a TD you might find it illuminating. Maybe even educational. But alas, you are here for the argument, not the education.
Ironically you could just contribute that instead of simply alluding to it and being argumentative. “We don’t do impeachment we do censoring” etc but I guess you’re trying to be a crank for some reason? “Now as a Yank blow-in” you couldn’t be more transparent your agenda is not the topic
censoring happens in the states too but the rep still has their seat
Sure sure, whatever you want to believe.
When I wanted to ‘believe impeachment’ a moment ago though you took forceful exception to it?
Still haven’t contributed on censoring then? “Alas, you’re here for the argument.”
Can take a horse to water..
We all get what overheal was referring to, even if he/she used the wrong name for it. The TDs weren’t censured, they chose to step down, though they were undoubtedly given a shove to do so.
Sure, but in Irish politics being fired and being asked to quit are essentially the same thing. Its a fairly pointless semantic argument.
All manner of people have asked George Santos to quit. He’s running for reelection. Still has his seat. Still casts votes. Definitely not the same thing as being fired.
I suppose it allows both to save a little face, but if the minister took the Seamus Woulfe approach and bluntly refused to resign when called on to, then we would see the distinction.
This is not a good comparison for the Irish parliament and its a horrendous comparison for TDs quitting the government as opposed to the Parliament.
Sure, there is a distinction but its rarely seen cause its incredibly weird for someone to refuse to step down when asked/prodded to do so.
It has happened. Haughey and Blaney.
fair enough. Santos is an outlier anyway.
I see Mr Collins has publicly admitted to knowing his wife wanted to buy the land when he voted to sell it.
When did he vote to sell it?
But again he did nothing wrong, the opposition should keep pressure on FFG about this, get Mr. Burns, Meehole out, a disgraceful Tanaiste and Minister for Defence sorry for my OT rant about Meehole, Collins should go too
I see Paddy Trumpgrave is being his usual gobshite self over on twitter.
