I hate to say but there is nothing unusual here...the surprising thing is that you are surprised.. Teslas business model is such that they don't have a dealership or an interest in trading second hand cars and as a result they forward your cars details to people in the trade and solicit interest and quotes and then forward the highest one to you ..so you either take it or leave it and there is no negotiation. They also now have a policy of proving the quotes nearer to the delivery delivery and that quote remains valid for 30 days. After that it has to be refreshed by going through the same process and value can go up or down. It's not surprising that amounts offered will be below what private sellers are advertising similar but I think its not entirely fair to say they are "low balling you" ..

It will always be better if you can negotiate a private sale but many people opt for convenience, avoiding stress involved with private sale and being able to hold onto your existing car up to pickup of new car.

How is a 5K difference between their offer and an *asking price* for a similar car on Carzone lowballing exactly?

Did you expect them to offer you an aspirational retail price and then readvertise adding their margin and ending up with a *more expensive* car that nobody will then buy?

My trade in offer from Tesla was just over €6000 less than the offer I received from both Kia and Hyundai and €2000 less than the next lowest dealer offer I got. That's a lowball offer.

All fun and games though when folks try to trade in their Teslas and 3rd party traders showing no interest.

Vector motors give me a lower offer than the already poor Tesla offer. Private sale is the way to go

Trade in is always last resort. Never ever trade in if possible. The dealer has to prep, profit and warranty your car. And that costs them.

On an opposite footing, bmw offered me 17k less fkr my car last year than Tesla did so it’s swings and roundabouts really.

Just for those wondering about range on the MY RWD and new to this like me. Just over 100km round trip commute today and used 26% of battery. Good mix of city centre, R/N roads and motorway. Wasn’t using heating (which would’ve made a difference) but was on calls/Spotify for the duration (won’t make a difference). That gives a range c.400km. Definitely notice a difference when going above 100km/h in terms of consumption but to be expected. Would expect that to drop c. 360km pushing it more on motorway. Happy enough with that bearing in mind mild climate currently

Got the car today. Blown away by it won't lie. Pickup super efficient. No info re: range, cause only 50km done today.

Weather is supposedly not looking good, hopefully ok for doing a check all around

Who did you end up with for insurance?

If the weather is bad on collection, accept and drove straight to the nearest covered garage or car park with natural light. Check it out then under cover and photo anything.

No idea tbh. I’ve never collected from the current location. Google maps should help though. Or someone that’s been there done that.

Think there's a tesla ship due to arrive in Zeebrugge later today so unlikely this one is carrying teslas unless they're left over from the last batch that got delivered to Zeebrugge I'm afraid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭imavi02

This did pick up the left over stuff from other regions. Waiting on how many it has is the question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,873 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Ah that changes things... Do we know of any ships that sailed recently from England to Zeebrugge with Teslas on board?

Really frustrating, keep ringing the guys who are buying my car and having to cancel, they are getting tired of it now. Is yours a M3 LR as well ?

"Previous update sent in error", is so disingenuous .....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭David Jones

Yep, it seems to be the only variant affected. Still at 63k omsp on revenue. 5 months without a car is really starting to grind. 1st world problems I know but the process is like a prolonged toothache.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 HonyTogan

Dropping in to say I've also had my LR M3 collection bumped from the 11th May out to a provisional 31st May, this is a shambles lol

Another possible ship to keep an eye on:

It's due to arrive at Dublin port on 9th

So are you saying this could be an issue between Revenue and Tesla that needs to get resolved ? Is this affecting all sales of M3 LRs or just the ones who had their Vin I suppose before the price change ... that doesn't sound good if its the latter, could go on and on.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 904 ✭✭✭David Jones

I would say all M3LRs. Put a Tesla M3LR with zero kms, May 23 registration in to revenue and it comes out 63k. That’s without paint, or seat or wheel change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 teslaownercork

My Model Y performance is affected also. Canceled collection 3 times now. They Pushed it out to May 31 so that I wouldn’t keep getting schedule texts in error. Was told by Gurveer (Lead Tesla Support Advisor) that revenue have until Monday 8th to update the STAT codes. If they don’t they will escalate the issue again to revenue.

Really annoyed by the whole thing as I’m too without a car. Sold my Model 3P 3 weeks ago on the premise that I would take delivery last Tuesday week.

Lack of Tesla commitment with their updates is so frustrating.

Thanks.....That's crazy but at least gives some reasoning, imagine if a rep from Tesla rang you and told you about that issue and how they were trying to resolve it .......
