I had a look and couldn't find a thread for theme tunes. My starter: Taxi
Eye Level - from Van Der Valk show early 1970's.
Think only time classical music made it to #1 on top of the pops - still a great tune.
yeah it was. they reused the song for the tv show.
One from relatively recently that I never skipped thorough......
and one from from my childhood that I still think is brilliant......
I haven't heard that Hair Bear Bunch song in a very long time. just fantastic.
There can only be one
similar to the theme tune for ST:TNG so.
Have to throw in the Love Boat theme song. Such a great show and a banging theme that I can't help but sing a long to!
Grand Designs

M*A*S*H opening song.
Great shout Comhra, was thinking of it. Long time ago, LLS on a Saturday night with Gay Byrne, followed by The Virginian, one channel land.
Theme of China Beach, probably my favourite. The pathos is in the opening note and runs right through;
The Waltons always sticks in my brain also Alias Smith and Jones with the voiceover narrative
John Barry : The Persuaders, the best ever TV theme tune in my lifetime.
Great cast including Patrick Swayze and Kirstie Alley. The series is a good depiction of the events running up to the American Civil War, with a dramatic theme tune.
Game of Thrones
Majestic
Buck Rodgers starts really well and then lays on the cheese.
Still good 😁
Original Battlestar Galactica
Yup, and his soundtrack to Dances With Wolves is epic too.
Ok not a TV show, but epic anyway. 😁
I knew i was a full blown heterosexual male growing up when I saw Glynis Barber in Dempsey and Makepeace....
Kick ass opening theme to boot...
Can you imagine if such a tune was released today. People's minds would melt 😂😂😂
One more and I'm done
Hill Street Blues
I didn't like the song as such, but a belter of a theme tune.
The Protectors Theme Tune. Tony Christy, Avenues and Alleyways.
Babylon 5. Not one theme but one for each of the five seasons! All pretty epic I think.
I came across a clip a couple of years ago of Tony Christie singing that on what looks like a daytime TV show with quite an old audience. People swaying in their seats and clapping along without really seeming to listen to the lyrics. Seemed quite incongruous:
Look around the jungle
See the rough and tumble
Listen to a squealer cry
Then a little later in the morning paper
Read about the way he died
Great lyrics, hilarious really, never knew what he was saying. Apologies cant insert you tube links.
Hawaii 5 O was another belter, White Horses, The Lost Islands, Belle and Sebastian and Robinson Crusoe We mostly seem to be of a similar vintage on this thread. 😊
