I agree on the Africa situation in general, but I do think it's a bit flippant to just write it off as business as usual, Sudan level incidents. Where it's not and has knock on repercussions to Europe, which are not needed, especially at this time.

They might be inclined to deny it as they did not have permission from America do it. Also a direct admission risks a further escalation. You will recall America has been reluctant to supply weaponry that would allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russia, but it's possible Ukraine has found away to do it anyway. Also to the best of my knowledge the Ukrainians rarely admit to acts of sabotage inside Russia. They denied killing the daughter of the Russian nationalist . It could be a power struggle within, but at the same time it would suit certain actors to portray it as this. We have heard this kind of propaganda before. We have also been informed that Putin was at deaths door.
Certainly a Bayraktar.

Looks like a Russian Luch Corsair/Korsar drone. Easily confused with the Bayraktar, particularly from such a distance.
He has a private militia behind him that's why. He would not be making these statements otherwise. He knows he is pretty much untouchable. Putin is playing people off each other, but if the Ukranian counter offensive is successful this could eventually backfire. He will run out of generals to scapegoat. It is then, with the assistant of foreign intelligence services, those within his regime who might be keen on self preservation might be emboldened to move against him. I don't think we are at that stage yet, which is why I still believe this was not Russian saboteurs nor was it the Americans or Russian state. It remains most likely to be Ukraine's intelligence service sending a message to Putin that we can bring the war to the heart of Moscow.
The pro russian accounts are in overdrive at the idea of a blue on Blue shoot down.
Would be quite an interesting development, as that looks to be quite far into what would officially be described as occupied territory. Waiting to see if it gets corroborated.

I think after a very long hiatus, the Ukrainians are starting to conduct probes/raids/recon missions against the Russian occupied areas. There was apparently one in Polohny a few days ago, and another in New York before that.
That trend gives no indication whatsoever where the actual attack will come from.
There's also an element of it's not actually happening and all we are getting is Claims from orc sources to suggest they have stopped Ukrainian or repulsed attacks,
If it comes from Russian sources it's pretty much obvious that it's not happening

The Russians are anticipating a Ukrainian counter-attack and have diverted shells away from Bakhmut and Wagner for defence of all the other occupied territories.
