I agree about holding on to it. It's stupid and why most modern wars have been a total disaster. "Counter insurgency" is just a waste of time and resources, better off straight up bribing people/coup or both. Putin seems to be shrewd enough not to invade and try to hold majority of Ukraine. At least not the massively ethnic Russian areas, I think it all might backfire in the long run for hos regime with some of these areas though. Still the stated goal of the Russkies is destroy military, which seems to be going fairly well, denazification, mabye not so much and securing Donbass which is slow going, but they are fighting a war of attrition so this is not unreasonable to go slow.
edit: Also holding any of Ukraine means that they can't join NATO under current rules.
These new US victory conditions for Ukraine must be 10x as challenging.
You don't want anything explosive hitting anything on or in those buildings they are are already rigged with explosives, chances are the Russians already have anti drone systems in place already
im just wondering how he hasnt fallen out a window yet...id be fairly sure his gangster mates are just a tad more than disappointed with him..
Your welcome, you might consider something stronger if it gets to bad
Are you sure they even have tanks left for the parade
exactly, all the russians wants to do,is lure the Ukranians in or respond,so they can blame them later.
Russia have used this against them the last 8 years in eastern Ukraine
I'm sure that his windows can't open.
That's it ,
I'd bypass it until they can push the Russians back and then clear the areas around it and seal it off ,and convince the Russians to surrender,
Launching a full scale assault would be extremely reckless and dangerous
To risky indeed, bypass and starve them out
Then again in manuever warfare and combined arms operation you will bypass fortifications and chokepoints and deal with them later.
Go for the more important military command structure first.
There are 2,000 Ukrainian civillians still working there.
Yeah his small army got clobbered pretty hard in opening months for sure especially in the north, commically small force of troops and a belief that there would be a quick takeover/peace deal. Big miscalculation. Ukraine certainly did better in the first half of 2022 but war has clearly changed with the stalled couter offensives that depleted UAF so much. History isn't going to ignore that.
In retrospect though if they did take more territory it might have been far more difficult and bloody for the Russians to attempt to hold. So they didn't. Plan changed dynamically with the situation. Probably wasn't clear in my original message, I don't think capturing much more territory is going to be a major strategic goal in the future.
Another reason to not attack,Russia would definately use them as human shields
"What stalled counter offensive"
The counter offensive wasn't going to take place until all their forces had been trained and equipped, and reorganized into battalions, then they needed the Tanks and IFVs to arrive so they could train the operators and maintainers, and set up repair and support hubs ,and the third part of the plan was waiting for the weather to heat up and the ground to firm up ,
This all has to happen before the Counter offensive begins,
Where are you going with stalled, do you actually understand what your saying or just making it up
Reductionism and revisionism. I know of no military analyst who didn't have Ukraine completely collapsing within the first week or two from that attack. It was no "small" attack.
You could call it stalled in relation to the expectation that it was going to start by now. That's not stalled as in 'failed' though, just stalled as in not moving yet. It's all a pretty minor semantic point, though. Most of us accept that Ukraine is still preparing.
Looks like Russia is preparing for a 'Hybrid war' makes you wonder about their recent naval visits around Ireland and the attack on the HSE computers.
Actually Putin tried to take all of Ukraine and failed. This time last year, Russian held much more territory than they do now, because Ukraine has retaken most of that territory. They have done that with much less equipment and military hardware than they have presently. What Russia has taken in the same time is fractional compared to what they have lost, but the price in manpower and equipment has been horrendous. Russia will be defeated, and Ukraine inc. Crimea returned to its rightful owners, which will not be the Russians that Putin is transplanting into areas where he is busy ethnically cleansing of Ukrainians.
I posted about last night at some point,it was reported emergency services were seen racing towards an military base/airfield , but there was nothing after that no signs of fire or an attack today,
At the same a mystery drone was filmed over Moscow today, doesn't look like anything we've seen in service which Russia so far
I'd say that currently getting to within the proverbial asses roar of the real Putin would be nothing short of a miracle!!!. He has surrounded himself with many layer's of human insulation, whose health and wellbeing ( inc, their families) are directly related to his ( Putins) health and well being.
Aliens
The kidnapping of Ukrainan children is Genocide according to the Parliamentary council of Europe,
It's about time it's been a called out for what it is , Genocide meanwhile they chair the UN while committing genocide
Footage of an unknown aircraft/drone over Moscow today,it looks like an aircraft with wings mounted high on the fuselage....
Hard to identify from that one video
It does equate to genocide and fair play to them for not sticking to the black & white definition. You don't have to kill anyone to erase a people, what they're doing can result in the same and the only difference is the long game played.
Finbar Cafferkey RIP. KIA in Ukraine. From Achill island in Co. Mayo. Also previously fought with the Kurdish militias against IS in Syria. Truly was the 'Right Stuff'.
I noticed this on a Telegram channel. It included this video. My take is that the explosion might be linked the activities of the whisperer or their friends.
Didnt they already do a full scale assault with the 100+ special forces trying to do a landing to capture the plant?
It was reported they tried a fairly large assault, but Russian artillery was over whelming, and they called it off,
But this will be denied, made out to be Kremlin propaganda,
But hey it's boards
I would not bet on that..seems more like he was fired for failing to meet his targets, and Putin is not exactly the forgiving type....more like a nice cup of Putins favourite tea, or a guided tour of the upper floors in one of the higher building's. the Troitskaya Tower, or any one of the Seven Sister blocks, ( the Tower would be more glamorous of course, but the sisters are very nice too ). And I'm pretty sure that Vladimir would like to make a lasting impression on his remaining staff. Putin is nothing if not considerate.
No, but I'd definitely keep the windows closed...and the air-con off ( it it has one.......)
But he's the one who took Mariupol, the city putin wanted since the original invasion in 2014 , despite throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it ,if I remember correctly they lost over 100 tanks against the original Azoz battalions and a few ukraine military soldiers who were essentially cut off ,
