Tis unfortunately the case that many families can't be arsed or are simply unable to do the traditional looking-after of the auld wans of the family and leave them in nursing homes with hardly a visit for months. Modern patterns of employment almost dictate this, unfortunately.
Otoh, there are plenty of families who step up and do the right thing.
