There is an element of schadenfreude, no doubt. But that twit had no qualms about subjecting Joan Burton to what must have been a deeply uncomfortable and intimidating experience, so I have no pity at all for him.

She was surrounded by Gardai at the time, laughing and joking in the back of the car, sneering at people's expensive phones while her assistant referred to those protesting as "the dregs". An inconvenient experience, no doubt. She only went there for a photo opportunity, not to come face to face with people affected by her party's cruel policies. She was "subjected" to nothing she didn't fully deserve. Thankfully, the trumped-up charges, along with Burton's lies, were seen by the court for what they were.

Paul Murphy, on the other hand, had a bunch of thugs turn up at his home. And unlike Burton, he did nothing to deserve it.

I'd argue that the vast majority of them aren't really far-right at all. They're just idiots and criminals who've found something to feel important about, while the guards largely leave them alone. If it wasn't "dem foreigners" it'd be something else.

She walked into the event, by invitation, alone minus any Gardai or protection.

The record shows Garda cars were then deliberately damaged and protesters were arrested for public order offences. A violent situation. Multiple videos on YouTube of protesters violently jostling Gardai and trying to intimidate Gardai, whose sole mission was to enable the minister and subsequently attendees including children to leave unharmed and un-harassed.

nothing compared to a benign visit that Murphy endured.

also.. it’s a democracy… although that might not be to the liking of Mr Murphy but people can sit in cars and laugh and joke if they so choose to…it’s not a crime…. Plenty of crimes were committed that day, even if a gormless judge can conclude otherwise.

Yeah, look at him just "being there" on the day, Just a total coincidence that he decided to sit down, arms linked with the "peaceful protestors" he had nothing to do with. Ok, it was directly behind the car she was in, preventing it from reversing for hours, but he was just resting his legs after happening to pass by.

Not that this in any way justifies the despicable protests outside his house. But lets not pretend he wasn't an active participant in Jobstown.
