Chinese electric car brand BYD to enter Irish market this year (breakingnews.ie)
First thing to do if every getting one of these is some dental floss and remove all the "Build Your Dreams" from the rear, what were they thinking?
Massive Spec. I can't actually see anything that the car doesn't have on Design spec. Virtually same dimensions as Enyaq / ID4. Identical width and height, slightly shorter. For under 40k when the Enyaq is nudging towards 60k for less spec? Game changer...
Is it not closer to the MG ZS that's also Chinese, the same price and has a bigger 72kWh battery? Though it might be ever so slightly smaller
From looking at the brochure the only difference is ac charge speed. 7kW on lowest spec and 11kW on upper 2 specs.
Same 150kW DC across all models.
Ha!
How about a diesel tuscon - over €37k
The only difference is BYD will actually have cars to sell hopefully.
Well
Where is the 22k EV version of a duster that can do 400km? Batteries are so cheap and all
Just chill and give it 3 years.
Was thinking it's a decent looking car and then saw the rear on Gumbo's pic above - oh dear!
That’s not so bad IMO.
You’d have to weigh up any time you think you’ll be using a 22kw public charger and see if it’s worth the investment. I can tell you now, my last 3 cars have had 22kw AC charging and my current one 11kw AC. It only has ever seen 7kw home charging.
Been listening to that for 5-6 years now though, VW and it's 25k ID3 which is now closer to 45K
In 2025 they might sell me a VW UP/Polo size for 25k if I'm lucky
VW's 'affordable' electric car to be offered in 3 battery configurations starting at ~$30,000, report says | Electrek
Tesla in fairness to them are getting it together though, 40k for a new model 3 now and Model Y which could be close to that price soon would be good value
Look at all the VW group cars in recent years, all have the same lettering design on rear.
It's a design element that is expected/required for China market.
You sure?
Where are they making these Atto3? Don't think BYD have an EU production facility, they must be importing them to EU from China or Thailand
I was expecting more to be honest. I think it looks like a 40k car. They will do well in Ireland filling the Hyundai space as it moves up-market. The Enyaz and ID4 look more premium. That said, everybody's idea of quality is different.
I like that even cheapest version comes with V2L (although you need to purchase power strip on lower ones) and heat pump. I wonder if phones can be used as keys.
I think they all have a heat pump.
I think they've too much Spec. The average buyer won't care for that kind of spec and will gloss over it because they want a car with little spec and a lower price. Sub 40k is good but lots and lots of people do actually like Paddy Spec cars.
Take one of the best selling cars in Ireland, the Tucson, the best selling of them is the entry level and not a great spec. Would those buyers care a bit about the spec sheet, I doubt it. I drive a Tucson myself.
The price difference between the three specs is minimal , compared to other marques. Im open to correction, but I think the only difference between base and top spec is faster AC charging and a bigger screen,.
One point to note, Android Auto not yet available , but the Iphone equivalent is
How does the UK price compare , if one was to import , buy tax free and import , and then pay ROI taxes, VRT vs what what we pay here
That was quick, did you get a date? I left my information with MSL last month and someone was to call me, I filled out the form earlier for a test drive so awaiting a response.
No not yet. That Nevo site reaches out to the dealer in question and they call you back. I’d say be quicker just dropping in. There’s one near me on the Navan road.
What's the model in the last photo?
The Interior is an absolutely completely different direction than all of the test drives of the Atto 3 that were done on the likes of late brake show and fully charged. It's toned down a million percent. Any reason for that ? The original demos were very eccentric and based on a gym.. of all places
Is the interior picture not from bigger SUV?
And they were fecking horrific.
It seems you are right. That's the tang interior.
No shots of the Atto3 there.
Looks like MDL have prepared some good old fashioned Paddy pricing to stiff us - list prices on their site are ~€2k higher than advertised (including a two year service plan).
Because why the **** not. FFS
I can't seem to find anywhere that tells me the difference between the trims to show what you get for the money.
What is clear is that a whole lot of motor journalist just reprint the company's PR release. Almost word for word on multiple sites.
Tang looks like a nice SUV
A suzuki S-Cross is from 30k. Not bad.
