Can’t help but imagine the strategists in the GOP sitting on their hands and wondering what they’re going to do here. The benefit of the doubt is long gone with Trump and DeSantis doesn’t seem all that popular with the MAGA crowd. If they could get one strong anti-Trump GOP candidate they’d be golden…but it’s getting pretty late. A lot of the more energetic characters of the GOP have a knack of being Trump zealots. They’d need someone less extreme, and with broad appeal by the end of the year.
I’m wondering if they are sitting there hoping / praying that Trump succumbs to health issues or is otherwise eliminated from running so that they have a shot at appealing to moderate voters.
If a strong anti-Trump candidate could emerge, they probably would have by now. If there's no-one out there gaining momentum on that kind of platform at this point, that should tell us something, and that thing is that political strategists have looked at the possibility and concluded that MAGA owns the GOP.
If RDS was a smart man, he'd wait out this election cycle, he can't out MAGA trump and his polling numbers show that. If he's a smart man, he'd let time take it's course on trump and let him get beaten by Biden and make a run at 2028.

I really hope we wont embarass ourselves like we did on his last visit by rolling out the red carpet and the "diddley aye" music and dancers on the tarmac at Shannon. What is required are massive banners and protests to get the message that "you are not welcome here you orange gobsh*te" firmly across.
The violence in that scenario would be by 'deranged' Trump supporters... as we saw on January 6th TDS has a new more dangerous and rabid strain.

Wouldn't worry too much, it's not like the organge menace can hide from his security detail who are Federal employees who could arrest him and bring him back to the US if needs be.
