Only really looking at the Ioniq, was thinking of selling privately but haven't done it before and don't really want to do it now. Trade-in offers between 9 and 13, if I knew someone that wanted to buy it Id sell it(or a decent Boardsie!) but couldn't face the tyre kickers etc. from DD. I really like the Ioniq but given a choice Id be in an EV6 but that's out of budget for me by a long way!! Do u think the Ioniq is good value at 25 for a 201, low mileage and mint condition?

€38k for very low mileage 1 owner 2017 Model S 75D, grey with tan seat and carbon trim, sounds nice. No photo's yet but dealer car with 1 year warranty plus whatever Tesla might honour. Starting to like this kind of pricing - makes other 2017/ 2018's look overpriced but guess its just coming back to previous levels of pricing

€9k is simply taking the piss. I know it complicates things if you have a car to sell and then another to buy (particularly if the other way around) but I'd be confident even without advertising you would get a decent boardsie offering you more than €13k

I'm a fan of the Ioniq. My own first EV was the Ioniq 28kWh over 6 years ago. But I struggle to see value at €25k for a 3 year old 38kWh. That is very close to i.e. a 192 Tesla Model 3 (still under manufacturer's warranty) or a brand new MG4

That's a lot of car for the money, given it's from a dealer with warranty (on top of the Tesla battery and drivetrain warranty which is also valid for another 2 years no matter how high the mileage you do). There will be very little room for negotiation though, where in private sales of similar cars you could potentially get several grand off.

These somehow all show up as 75D in the likes of DoneDeal or when you do a reg check, but most aren't.

    (Shameless plug!!)

On the back of Unkels comment, if there's a Boardsie looking to get into an Ioniq for reasonable money here's a pic of my 171 28Kwh Ioniq with 205k Kms(still showing 100%SOH on Canioniq):

btw, this was an original boardsie car(I'm second owner)!

I'm in an EV myself, Cupra Born and so is my father Etron 55, I'd love to get my mother into a cheaper smaller battery EV like an ioniq 28 or a leaf. Only thing is she loves her 2008 Micra and is afraid of anything new, but she does appreciate nice cars, just doesn't necessarily want to drive them, probably because of the tech. I know my dad is bamboozled by the tech in his etron and just doesnt use it any more after i set everything up for him. He had no interest in preheating cabin or any of the good stuff. Just wants to get in and drive. She's late 60s so still plenty of driving years in her, but loves the simplicity of the Micra. He wanted to buy her a 2016 Kia Sportage my sister was trading in but the mother wasn't interested. However, she's currently housebound after a partial left knee replacement for another month and I'm thinking the combination of automatic (well, EV automatic meaning no clutching with her new knee) and another EV on the driveway might be a good idea.

Is there anything to worry about with EVs with 200k kms and 6 years old like Bootsers car? 100% SOH sounds fantastic and they're obviously less complicated than ICE mechanically. Range is definitely more than adequate on a 28kw, it's a bit of tipping around town is all she ever does anyway.

I'll have a chat to them and see what they think.

Not so much EV related, but would the driving position in the Micra be more suited to your mother than the Ionic? I've not been in either but the Ionic looks lower and more reclined.

I don't know, I'd guess the micra looks higher because it's shorter maybe? Wouldn't think the micra is any way high but I'll sit into it next time I'm up there and see, never paid much attention to it

Nearest to Micra would be a Zoe or other small EV. The ioniq 28kWh is relatively wide and long. It does have a reversing camera which helps and should have rear only parking sensors. Size I think is an important factor for "elderly" that may struggle parking at Tesco etc.

In terms of very high mileage with battery out of warranty you need to allow 3/4k euro in case it develops a battery fault or other expensive fault due to high mileage such as bearings around motor ("common" issue). If added mileage by new owner is very low then risk of something cropping up is much lower compared to new owner with high mileage.

The seating position in the ioniq is quite low. Mine is premium se & has electric driver seat that moves forward&back for getting in&out automatically. In saying that my elderly mil had no problem. The leaf is quite high.

Low sitting position is one of very few downsides of classic Ioniq.

    I'd consider it an upside.

Like to feel I'm sitting "in" a car as opposed to "on" a car.

I tried my mum in a lot of cars, Toyota gave me a C-HR to take out to her and she loved it. It's not thirsty and she lights the height.

Haven't got it listed anywhere, I've been offered max 13k trade in so anything north of that wud interest me. It's in good condition for a 200k kms car. Haven't listed it as I was seeing the trade in price as a premium for not having the hassle of the usual DD PITA! But wud be happier to see it going to a boardsie. I can send on any pics anyone wants or post them here, just don't want to be clogging up the thread if nobody's interested either!!

Stick it in the For Sale/Wanted section for €15K and see how you go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,145 ✭✭✭✭unkel

You and me both. But for many elderly drivers it's definitely a drawback.

Yep, once the hips & knees start to give out, a car on stilts seems to be some sort of solution for many.

2022 Tesla Model 3 asking €35k. Could be a bargain if seller is willing to negotiate slightly

Tbf is it not already a good bargain, most 201 cars are asking that and more.

    Changed there now to €39k.

Must have been inundated with calls at 35??

It's an auction. Aren't they just reserve numbers?

They're bid prices the company folded and is reopening under a new name to concentrate on the light-year 2, you can own one, they won't go past 20km per hour I think..
