There was no blackmail attempt by Daniels, an example of what blackmail is would be if a world leader withheld military aid to another sovereign nation (who happened to have a very aggressive state on their doorstep) in order for that aided state to fabricate dirt on a political opponent of the president withholding the aid.

The school board elections (whatever they are?) went down in the state of Illinois. I looked through the Guardian to see if they covered any of the mass riots , murders and gang violence currently sweeping Chicago like a tornado.. There's nothing. Extremist mums appears to be more newsworthy to the Guardian.
Whats happened over the last few weeks in Chicago is what real extremism looks like. So I don't think this voting block is indicative of anything in the upcoming elections. Trump's continued existence and involvement in American politics means he's going to make it awfully hard for the American right to build a strong cohesive movement that can win democratic elections. If Trump's the guy, then he'll utterly polarise things and cause independent voters and Democrats to mobilise in huge numbers. If someone else like DeSantis is the guy, Trump will not allow himself to be side lined because he cannot abide losing. He's not even the kind of politician who can accept losing but with a top job in his erstwhile opponent's administration.
