Our Ioniq 5 beeps in reverse and hums in forward. But beeping is not too loud, but she tells me I am going deaf. (It's really only selective hearing😁)
I don't notice any artificial noise in my Tesla in forward, but there is definitely a spaceship sound in reverse..
Weird 212 and definitely beeps ha. Maybe an upgrade 😉
Just left my mate there. 231 i5 and no beeping on reverse!
The real world experience of relativity is that time accelerates the closer you get to the end of it :)
That was a quick year!
Maybe a setting to turn it off? I’ve never noticed it. I know our commercial Nissan EV’s have it but it was an add on.
Deffo over a year ago, there were there when I collected my M3 in March 22.
No humming, more like a UFO landing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3iwyvq_rns 👽️
I've the i5 and it does indeed beep on reverse, basically broadcasts to the nosey neighbours when I leave the house. I presume the Y makes the humming noise on reverse like it does in forward?
100% - our neighbor has one and we hear when they arrive :)
Thank you for preserving my sanity 😄 yes definitely a 221.
I am starting to feel like it'll be 241 before I see my own MYLR 🫠 hopefully next delivery window after the current deliveries!
It was the start of last year.
The Long Range MY arrived in 2022, Q4 from memory. Are you sure it’s not 222 as it wasn’t even in the uk in 221 from memory so can’t be even an import.
I've seen a MY in white around the southside of Cork City on a 221 plate. It's not one of the test drive models from Tesla in Douglas (they are on UK reg). Didn't the MY only arrive here in Q1 2023? Maybe it's a re-registered UK model. Thought it was odd!
Does the i5 beep like that? My mates doesn’t?
Ah - thanks - after watching that many videos i sort of thought that, but was hoping it would be like in ioniq 5 where it beeps like a truck.
I don’t think that beeps in reverse. It just makes that weird spaceship noise that the car does as standard now on the newer model.
Can someone ELI5 if this is a good idea? https://shop.tesla.com/en_ie/product/model-3_y-pedestrian-warning-speaker
Switching from a PHEV and had people literally walk in behind me when reversing and wondering if this would be a good purchase? I just want audible beeping when reversing to alert all the donkeys out there
Thanks
I have those on my Y put them on the day I got home from Dublin. If I could have carried them up on the train and fitted them in Baldonnel I would have. I really dislike the stock hubs.
Personal preference really, I pulled the Gemini's off the day I got the Y think they were making me ill just looking at them and went with bare alloys until the wheel cover arrived, I went for a slightly different symmetrical design and I think they look miles better than the stock covers.
I’ll happily take them off you if you’re not keeping them. 👍🏻
Those ones imo look good. And with the bonus of being symmetrical.
Thanks, I often question that too. There are a few YouTubers who did some efficiency tests on this type (obviously not very scientific) and efficiency was on par. If it's on par or slightly less, not too worried from normal day to day usage.
I would be sceptical of any claims of 3rd party covers being more efficient than Tesla's covers.
Given Tesla's attention to aerodynamics and drag, would Tesla have really chosen a less efficient design for their Geminis if a more efficient one was available?
Hey folks, looking for some opinions on these after market AliExpress wheel covers to replace my Geminis for my MY MSM. However, I'm torn if I prefer them over the Geminis. Pros of these - protects the alloys from rim rash, turbine styling with Matt Black finish, suppose to be as efficient if not better than Geminis and also comes as directional i.e. Left and Right (see photos). Even comes with the Tesla logo stickers. The photos are from a friend that bought them. Thoughts?
I’m not sure it’s so simple, I doubt if hardly any vehicle is the same price now as it was in 2019 ? Would it be a deliberate move to fill the cheaper end of the EV market to be ahead of the chinese makes. Volume is obviously key now that production has ramped up so much.
Exactly .. and to be fair Tesla now produces more cars with lower cost compared to 2019 so they can theoretically go even lower than base prices in 2019 if they want to
That’s it. So it’s great to see price drops of course but it’s not Armageddon seeing them. It’s just the natural shift back to normality after the pandemic years. I think!
Correct.. remember base model y in the US was 38-39K in 2019 and now is 46K (similar to 2021 prices) .. still long way to go
They have reduced in light of recent increases. The same group stated that it’s back to April 2021 prices.
