On from 1am to 8am on night rate
How much?
I went with top model fr9031 for the smaller cows- similar bull and daughter proven - I got 44 sexed straws for 2k
When you’ve pot luck genomic straws priced around 20 bucks that lad ain’t too bad
45 conventional and 70 sexed if your buying over 50 straws
Are genomic sexed only 20?
Yikes- I think graziano was the dearest bull I bought- not close to that thou
In my experience the more expensive the straw the poorer conception rate.
Well I find international genomic "do what it says on the tin" Wouldn't trust Irish genomic, you have no idea what they will look like.
They look fine for me. But maybe I’m not picky 🤷🏻♂️
If Irish genomics are working so well why aren’t half the catalogs dedicated to daughter proven bulls?
Has anyone got a number of cows from sexed semen straws yet?
My vet was warning me off sexed semen before as he said he'd have reservations about the fertility of the offspring in the longterm!
Using it for years and no such problems. Your vet should know better.
A little knowledge is dangerous, he's the wisest man I've ever met.
Would you not be worried about his fertility?
Bingo there shouldn't be an imported bull in sight
Did you look at his country of origin proof?
Not a bit on country of origin figures ….positive for dpr….
Ask him to explain to the rest of us so. We must be using sex for about 15 years I'd say and can't see any issues with fertility
He's negative for fertility on American dpr unless I've the wrong bull
Silver and supersire in the pedigree would ring alarm bells
No 1 bull in Germany that’s daughter proven-
Sorry was talking Conway …
I hadn't
One of the most frustrating things is trying to square fertility figures. I use LIC NZ bulls, same issue with difference between NZ and Irish fertility figures and then you have the genomic bulls here with off the wall figures
Was watching the Munster bovine webinar there the other night and they basically said the fertility figure is a lottery..it's a very low heritability trait apparently.
Fertility in my view is cow management. Very little to do with bulls. The cow that has a hiefer from the first insemination, the heifer is usually fertile with good management.
I'm using him too on heifers.
Are you not worried about in-breeding %
re supersire on both sides
Ye I'd agree, fertility would have more to do with health index and type ie strength and capacity to handle the volumes of milk without falling apart, than the fertility index. Coupled with good management obviously
Don’t see the point in worrying about inbreeding if the breeders of the bull or the ai station that bought him aren’t.
Its easy for the Irish high EBI bulls to have good fertility figures when they have low milk.
And now for something completely different…

I don’t know these micro-dairy people but I did have a few text messages with them a few years back when they were trying to get set up first.
It wouldn’t ever be my type of thing but it’s nice to see them up and running all the same.
