Ouch 787,500,000 dollars
BREAKING: The Dominion settlement is $787.5M.
I would be shocked if there isn't a stipulation of admit your lied or somesuch.
That's gotta hurt 😅
Ok, that’s not so bad.
Also, they’ve basically admitted they’re lying.
Pity it was settled. Would have been nice to have those slimy liars sweat in the dock.
Fox really don't to be subject to a special master and this settlement?
I can only believe that the lawyers for Smartmatic smell blood in the water and will push even harder in their lawsuit.
This is a good number.
Wonder will Tucker et al report about it?
Also Isn’t another company suing them?
yep smartmatic and they are going for 2.7 billion. I would be very very shocked if this gets as far as the dominion one as the dominion settlement sets a huge precedence but lets see they could decide to go all in.
Just as an aside dominion being a Canadian company depending on the exchange rate this would be a 1B CAD settlement.
Oddly enough, no mention of it on the Fox News homepage...
The public admission from Fox at the courts is below
"We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems. We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues,” the statement said.
Will be interested to see how this is handled on air on Fox and if there are stipulations about what they have to say on their shows.
Well, it's nice to see that lying has some consequences, even in Trump's America.
The story is strangely absent from Foxnews.com at the mo.
Would have preferred to have Fox hammered in court, but that's a hell of a settlement figure. Their acknowledgement of "the court finding some claims to be false" is far more the words of a Weasel than a Fox, but it's about as much to be expected.
I imagine a lot of the same evidence would be relevant to the Smartmatic case, so I'm guessing it's headed for possibly even a ten-figure settlement sum.
This is the current headline on the Foxnews Website
An article pearl clutching about a breach of the Hatch Act.
The very same act that Kellyanne Conway broke on an almost weekly basis in the Trump admin.
I do wonder if any kind of on-air apology (or rather, statement) is part of the settlement. Suppose we'll know by the end of the week.
3 tiki torchers going to court for Charlottesville
Indictments had been unsealed Tuesday for three defendants who were extradited from their home states: Tyler Bradley Dykes of Bluffton, S.C.; Dallas Medina of Ravenna, Ohio; and Will Zachary Smith of Nacona, Tex. Officials said additional indictments remain under seal.
Seems they're being charged under criminal statutes produced in response to the KKK. They've rarely had to be used.
Seems MisterA was right, and also so very wrong at the same time.
It's even worse. Just looking at the Fox News homepage, there isn't a dicky bird about the Dominion Settlement
Next thing we'll be told that nothing happened, a bit like Jan 6th.😎
If you hit Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, and A it unlocks the voting machine and you get unlimited votes. But not many people know about it and it's considered cheating.
Best I got is
and
I was fairly accurate with what I said.
That it wouldnt go to court and they wouldnt get anywhere near 1.6Bn.
10x their investment is still decently near 20x.
Anyway,
Republicans are jumping ship from DeSantis now. Ron's not going to recover after his midnight abortion ban or his Disney Prison ideas. Now he's just in a fight to hold on to the governorship from Democrats who are going to show up just to vote against him.
The Special Master appointment probably doubled the settlement amount.
Kurtz says ha, we're all denied the right to see Fox News lose at trial:
.... at trial. ☺️
You weren’t.
You never said what kind of payout number there would be either. They didn’t get 1.6bn but they got a damn high number anyway, which is an effective admission of guilt by Fox, along with thei acknowledgment that on-air claims about the voting machines were false.
You never said what kind of payout number there would be either.
He said they wouldn't get 20x their investment ($80 Million).
He was essentially correct, but they did get half that (>$800 Million). Still a lot. His statement is still logically true with what happened.
Roast Me: I said they wouldn't settle (hedgingly) then I said they wouldn't disclose
So I guess I called it.
Money is money to the board of directors and enough of it will compensate for reputational damage.
In other news..
Trump supporters will insist Biden is dodgy despite release of his tax returns, but will insist Trump is squeaky clean despite him fighting to the release of the tax returns.
I'd say Rupert Murdoch wont be sending Lou Dobbs any Christmas cards anyway.
The stuff Dobbs was coming out with was really over the top, he must have given Dominion most of their ammunition.
I remember watching a bit of him one night and it was really funny the vigour he used to have, Trump was the greatest president ever according to Lou. Radical Dems, Swamp Creatures were some of his favourite phrases.
Dobbs was so entrenched the media on the left rarely gave him any interest, what interests them is the level of sophisticated language meant to inspire stochastic terrorism on Tucker Carlson etc. most nights (legally vetted language but which clearly has a message behind it). Dobbs gives off real old man yelling at cloud vibes, I don’t think he scares the left by any means at all he’s just your adorably racist uncle.
Speaking of language inspiring stochastic action: ‘boy if I was a fox shareholder right now I’d sue’
Newsmax tepidly reports on the settlement and OAN still ignores it
Both are still staring down the barrel of their own Dominion lawsuits. And they do not, like Fox News, have $5Bn cash on hand.
