Quote from urc rules.
The positions of the Clubs in the League Stage will be entered into the Standard League Table and will be based on the following, in order:
a) the number of League Points awarded to each Club;
b) if unresolved, the number of Matches won by each Club in the League Stage;
c) if unresolved, the difference between the total points scored and the total points conceded on the field of play for each Club in all Matches in the League Stage;
Glasgow do have something to play for in theory, they could move from 4th up to 3rd thus avoiding the top seed in the semi if they make it to the semi, also the potential that the number 2 team could lose their quarter which would give the 3rd paced team a home semi in that case, and even as the final venue hasn't been announced to my knowledge, it could be the home venue for the highest ranked team left in the final, and 3rd gives some hope of a home final in that case, 4th is much less likely.
But it's all very unlikely anyway as if Stormers pick up even 1 point then that would cease to be a possibility.
Glasgow are 5 points below Stormers, with a match won extra in hand, so if they draw level on league points they would move ahead by virtue of matches won.
I still expect Glasgow to put out a second string team to save themselves for the Challenge Cup semi.
Stormers will NEVER EVER lose to Treviso with not BP
They know it
They'll score 4 tries at least even defeated (very unlikely already)
Glasg have nothing to play for in fiact
Not sure about that, don't forget Stormers we're at the end of a horrible run of fixtures, the win just papered over the cracks.
Really good Munster win - probably their performance of the year.
Snyman was immense but O'Mahony was the best on the field. Single handedly destroyed the Stormers lineout. Kleyn had a great outing as well.
Loughman's ability to link play is invaluable, as feel like Munster don't have as many forwards who can play that role. He adds a new dimension to their attack when he's there.
Conor Murray had a quietly excellent game for me.
Big difference though for me in the performance was how good Alex Kendellen was. I think he's a much more natural 7 than Hodnett, and while he doesn't have Hodnett's carrying, he brings more aggression in defence and a willingness to hit rucks that I don't think you get from Hodnett. To me, that was the winning of this game for Munster.
the win just papered over the cracks
I don't know about that, yeah the Stormers weren't at their best but they still don't lose too many at home.
Back it up with a win over the Sharks and things will look a lot rosier, and a quarter final in Glasgow is not the worst outcome.
Ah yeah, you're right in practical terms, but my point was more theoretical by the league points.
I agree with you, Benetton should be putting out their B team as well to save themselves for Toulon the following week (Champions Cup riding on that next season, and Toulon will be focusing more on their Top14 campaign), and Stormers will want to do everything they can to overtake Ulster, expect a massive score coming especially given the rest week and the hurt from losing last weekend.
I don't think anyone is going to be planning on anything on the expectation that the Stormers will get zero points at home to Benetton.
I think this is probably our best result of the year, but for me Toulouse away was a more complete performance, even in defeat.
This was, at times, more ragged but ballsy and dogged.
Interesting that 2 of our best performances of the year have come away from home tho.
With regards Hodnett, I think the Sharks performance is still fresh in the mind, but he’s more than capable of blitzing a ruck too, I always think of this in the SA game. And we know we’ll about his carrying.
Himself and Kendellen are potentially two huge players for us tho over the next few years. Kendellen always seems to play above a level of aggression and physicality than you’d expect from a player of his size.
The value Irish sides will get out of touring is immeasurable. Weeks away in an immersive rugby environment, getting to know each other better, getting used to demanding logistics etc.
Yeah I’m a big fan of Hodnett. He pretty much has it all- he would out-Cloete if the latter was still around but Hodnett rarely gives away penalties which is a massive plus.
Mind you Archer had a good game in that he didn’t seem to give too many penalties away.
Coombes seemed jaded - no surprise seeing the amount of game time he had in the last while. Still managed one try.
Barron still does that double throw thing although you can see he’s just stretching his shoulders. Didn’t get pinged in this game because he did the stretch a few seconds before the lineouts formed.
all round I thought munster beat their opposite numbers in most positions which is what you need to win a game.
Snyman unavailable for the weekend following return to play protocols.
Big loss he had a great game at the weekend. Still think a win is on tbh the team seem to be working well
Big loss but not surprising once he failed the HIA during the game.
I must have not being paying attention just thought he went off as normal. To excited by the game in general 😂
Wonder will they throw Edogbo straight in? That would be exciting to see.
Pretty sure he was subbed for a HIA
Edit to add
He left the pitch for an HIA in the 65th minute after a dynamic and well-rounded performance in all the crucial facets of a lock’s game.
The Indo's reporting was accurate. Sean O'Brien signs 2 year deal. https://twitter.com/Munsterrugby/status/1648277231574167554?t=v7l_UW_TJDoWhhF89Wo6AQ&s=19

I don't know much about him, I think we needed another centre but I see the usual suspect howling at the moon over the signing.
Munster alive and well & living rent free in his head
This is a good signing, I don't see much of Exeter but looks like a decent player. Between him, Frisch and Nankivell, there's surely the makings of a good midfield next season.
I think this is a good if somewhat low key signing. SOB was very good for Connacht, especially defensively. We shouldn't have let him go. His first season at Exeter wasn't great, but recently he's been a regular starter.
Who's that?
Not giving him the attention he craves
Not sure if mentioned here already, but RG is out of the Sharks game, following the return to play protocols after a head injury.
We'll have two Chiefs players as centres. Lucky I have the T shirt from a trip to NZ.
Does it have an Exeter crest on the back?
I can't see the back when I have it on😉
..
The name BR RG came from his tour in Vietnam.
The people who know its meaning are all dead.
I said it a while ago that Munster should have insisted that they be allowed bring in a NIQ outhalf, carbury is now 3rd choice and completely fallen out of favor, to be honest he always looked better at 15, with Healy going and Crowley on world cup duty this will leave Munster with almost no option at 10 until November. And the only other Irish option is Tector but I can't see leinster letting him move unless it's a short term emergency measure
