Hi guys I’m in the market for a new EV was looking at the Tesla model Y duelmotor I live in the countryside are they as rough as people say they are my better half can get car sick. with the price drop on them they are really affordable now this will be my first EV or would ye recommend something else thanks for any advice given
I’d suggest a proper test drive by renting one from UFO in Dublin. If it’s not for you, an ID.4, Enyaq, EV6 and Ioniq 5 are all similar in size and range but more expensive than the Tesla.
Go for a test drive. Sometimes the harshness can be a bit dramatic in reviews and even if it was, the current model has the newer sister comfort suspension.
I suppose it all depends on what your currently used to.
Go test drive all the EV’s you like and decide then.
Thanks. I test drove a model Y performance found it ok on comfort but the roads were good where I tested and a 50km speed limit so hard to tell I will b doin must driving on country roads. Was just seeing if anyone had experience of it. The performance of the car has me sold but keep seeing reviews of how bad it can b.
Cork is a good place to test drive, a few minutes and you can get onto some pretty lousy roads around the back of airport. Tesla are generally on the firm side, which would be my preference, but I don't find my Model 3 to be uncomfortable..

Does anyone have any information on the next deliveries of Teslas from Shangahai to Ireland or the name of the ship with the cars ? I ordered a Model Y LR in Jan , initial delivery was Feb-Mar, then July- September and now April-June. Thanks

wow, I can't believe how many Model Y are for sale on the website .... when I was looking a few months ago there was the odd one or two, you can scroll through pages of them now ... I don't get the inventory management, seems mad
All the Long Range ones in Inventory have extras that push them over the grant limit. For a private buyer it means a €54K car becomes a €61K car just because it’s a different colour or has a towbar etc. Unless those cars get a price cut, they’ll be a hard sell.
True, but businesses don't get the grant so they make go for them.
Also in July the grant decreases to €3500 and I think it's being phased out gradually. Unless Tesla alter prices again, the cars will get easier to sell somewhat.
hi, changing to an EV and interested in the TESLA MODEL Y- is the suspension as "hard" as some reviews suggest?
There's a large delivery imminent, so if you were to order soon, there's definitely going to be spare capacity on the boat, so you could be on the road before the end of June.
Have you test drive it yet?
As posted here the suspension has been changed since the first Demos were launched last year.
thinking of getting a model y as well. The price seems good compared to competitors and am I wrong in seeing that the new price of the LRM is cheaper than the inventory...any particular reason for this? New to the whole EV experience.
How are current owners finding it? my milesage is very low around 3k a year since I now remote work but it might pick up a bit if I change my existing card 2010 F10 525D..
I really have no interest in changing my car but too much is going wrong with it and I'd like the peace of mind with a new card and EV ticks all the boxes due to my low milesage.
Inventory models probably have extras such as towbar, full self driving or wheel options

My own opinion is that its not, simple. I hired a MY on the older suspension and never thought it to be bad at all, but could see peoples point alright (and by God are the roads around me some of the worst in the country). I recently drove a brand new MY RWD and would go as far as saying it was a very nice drive comfort wise, nice middle ground between comfort and handling for a crossover. Its a non issue for me, nicer drive on B roads than my F15 X5 (with rft's) which has far too much top-end wobble. Subjective I know, but as already recommended, go test drive and satisfy yourself.
Ps. I cancelled mine, nothing to do with the Car itself though!

If test drive in Sandyford and want broken roads I suggest taking the M50 South, then leave the M50 at J15 and take Glenamuck Road towards the Golden Ball. That road is atrocious due to some 3-4 construction sites in the last 2 years. Take a right turn on Enniskerry Road and drive towards Sandyford. Passing the junction with Hillcrest Rd you're going to encounter more uneven surface. Then take M50 North and if you get the ramp onto M50 empty floor it. That never gets old with the child in me. Then you can turn around at J12 and head back to Tesla

Prices gone down again in the US
Wow, there seems to be no end to this. It’s great for new customers to Tesla but it could really hurt their brand in the long term.
As someone who wishes to buy one but has an EV from another brand currently, I dunno how to feel, hoping it won't affect me much when I go to sell.
Some are saying that this drop is related to federal tax credits being removed. If it's not, then of curiosity, how long after the last price cut in the US was the price reduced in Europe?
They have reduced in light of recent increases. The same group stated that it’s back to April 2021 prices.
Correct.. remember base model y in the US was 38-39K in 2019 and now is 46K (similar to 2021 prices) .. still long way to go
That’s it. So it’s great to see price drops of course but it’s not Armageddon seeing them. It’s just the natural shift back to normality after the pandemic years. I think!
Exactly .. and to be fair Tesla now produces more cars with lower cost compared to 2019 so they can theoretically go even lower than base prices in 2019 if they want to
I’m not sure it’s so simple, I doubt if hardly any vehicle is the same price now as it was in 2019 ? Would it be a deliberate move to fill the cheaper end of the EV market to be ahead of the chinese makes. Volume is obviously key now that production has ramped up so much.
Hey folks, looking for some opinions on these after market AliExpress wheel covers to replace my Geminis for my MY MSM. However, I'm torn if I prefer them over the Geminis. Pros of these - protects the alloys from rim rash, turbine styling with Matt Black finish, suppose to be as efficient if not better than Geminis and also comes as directional i.e. Left and Right (see photos). Even comes with the Tesla logo stickers. The photos are from a friend that bought them. Thoughts?
