I wonder if settling, with an admission by Fox, is the best thing, rather than breathless coverage by the media for the next few weeks. Whether Fox admits is likely as big a sticking point as the amount, but to date the Dominion team have shown to be the sharpest knives in the drawer and they've probably got a settlement in mind.
Of course, Smartmatic could still see their lawsuit through, heh.
I'm sure whatever settlement offers Fox make will be heavily predicated upon Fox not having to admit any real liability or wrongdoing, and basically shutting Dominion up about anything found during discovery/investigation etc. Fox will throw a metric f*ckload of money at them, give a quick "We fully accept Dominion systems were not involved in any election wrongdoing" and then make sure they're a lot more suggestive about such things rather than definitive; train hosts to throw in caveats and disclaimers when guests go off the reservation.
I can't imagine that they would take a settlement that doesn't include an admission. The lawsuit is primarily about showing that the accusations that their machines are insecure were lies.
Dominion really have the upper hand here. They can squeeze. Above all, the family don't want to be in the dock, IWT. Full liability and apology minimum along with major cash settlement.

They have Fox dead to rights on this.
At an absolute minimum they should get their money and a very public and oft repeated on air public apology from Fox leadership AND all of the in air presenters.
Who knows if they will settle, but they are well incentivized to try and give it their best shot. Fox News has cash on hand averaging over $5 Bn and Rupert is worth $17 Bn. They could, if they wanted, offer Dominion a lot more than they're asking for in a closed-settlement.
If I were Dominion though honestly there's no settlement amount or wordy apology they could write that would convince me Fox News was contrite about anything other than getting caught. Tucker Carlson would just deadly read the mandated apology and then smirk like he just saw a mexican family getting evicted on the way to work
With this much dead to rights evidence in their favor, there's no sense in not going to trial and putting the Fox brand to account on record.
But Dominion? I have no idea if they operate on sense, and they're worth less (way less) than fox.
