You guessed correctly!
ADS-B app shows 3 USA refuel jets all together north of Ireland. Why would a group of those be circling together? Refueling a bunch of military jets we can't see?
Flying at 22000, 23000 and 24000 feet
2 K35R and 1 KC46A
FORTE is a regular callsign for RQ4 drones. I'm guessing it's a squadron calling?
Infamously "Forte12" was off the coast of Crimea on Feb 23rd last year
Drone activity. This time near Moldovan border though:
Interesting callsign. This fella just landed. Flight from Zurich, Switzerland:
GRIM99 has started as well.
Just started and flew over my house
Rescue 118 was carrying out an incident, may have had an impact.
They delayed to let support get there before them
They are actually doing a meandering tour for the sunny day that's in it. 😂 Hilarious! Maybe they handed Biden the controls!
"There's my great-great grand-Pa's house..."
Is Biden getting a flight tour?
North runway is now closed.
Air Force 1 is taking off today for Knock. Has a time in around 12.25. It's the 757 though and not the 747 today.
EI133 to BOS diverted to KEF https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/ei133#2fddcb0c
EI are sending an A320 to KEF this evening https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/ei995
It didn't seem to try too hard to get in. Had one go at it and then headed for DUB. Two Ryanairs that were also coming from London airports at around the same time both got in.
Is there a different wind limit for A320s than for 738s? Must be frustrating for departing passengers seeing your flight cancelled due to high winds while others get away OK at around the same time. Especially as many of the departing passengers will have had connections at Heathrow.
I hope passengers had their seatbelts fastened until the end. ;-)
In fairness, it was slippy out there with that wind and rain. 😂
I guess it's a sort of usual thing with tracking, but, anyway, I love the line they drew. :-D
Delta153 Rome to Jfk diverting to Dublin now
RYR1345 Currently in a hold off Shannon due to winds 300 @22 gusts of 50
Dub latest expect delays from 15:00 Z for 45mins
Edit: She's up https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=adfdf8
EI915 LHR-NOC diverting to Dublin after a go-around at Knock due to wind.
I love reading yere post lads....
very informative , and interesting -
Optional answer , only if you want to reply. - How do yee know so much about aviation?
And it offers proficiency upkeep for the KC135 crews.
Consumption of fatigue life also an issue, I'd say, so taking off at a lighter weight and topping up en route is fairly standard practice for the E-4s.
Back on the adsb map now.
It's an "all-scenarios-planned-for" type operation rather than the "shure, be grand" type of planning, so the planners made the decision that it should be refulled after take-off. It also has a bulbus forehead and a massive suite of electronics and countermeasures which makes it less fuel efficient than a standard 747.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why would a 747, albeit heavily modified, need to be refueled that soon after take-off? Would it not have the legs to do a Transatlantic journey without refueling?
ADSB Exchange down. I guess too many of us tried at once. ;-)
They are US Army Chinooks. The air force has never had any.
Ah! That's why it dropped to ~6000m.
Looks like this was the refueller:
I read somewhere that the AF1 (VC-25As) refueling capability has never been used. Thus the new version (based on the B748i) won't have it.
