Yeah I signed up last month, thinking I'd be getting the same as Vodafone I had, and it's been mostly fine, but today the data was just terrible.
Got the first month free for switching but today was the first day I had to top up. Not sure if it was a coincidence but I'll be looking to switch again if this continues...
A few days ago, yes. On WiFi 99%, so don't always notice.
Anyone getting really slow data speeds today?
I’m on the high end 5G unlimited plan.
Vodafone could have more than 10mbs, it’s might be the plan your on. Worth checking
My phone ( Vodafone) and herselfs phone An Post
Both on the sane 4G masts. Speeds aren’t great this eve.
vodafone : 10 mbs
an post : 2.5 mbs
Also check data roaming didn’t toggle off as it does sometimes when you change sims.
Check your Mobile Data Type in Settings. If your phone is a Samsung, it's in Settings/About Phone/Status/Sim card Status/Mobile Data network type. Similarly for other brands.
See if it's LTE, or if it's only connecting as HSUPA for data, and UMTS for voice/text (3g). This was an issue back on the 20th march, no data, read a few posts back. It cleared for me after removing the sim, rebooting phone and inserting the sim live. It triggered a push notification for the phones AP settings, which restored LTE (4g) as the connection. If that fails go to a post office that has Postmobile service available, they'll register a new sim on the spot, and you can pop it in your phone and check the data connections type.
Got an An Post Mobile sim today Vodafone mast across road from me speeds shockingly slow I mean 1 meg download similar up...
Their support were fast enough replying.. they seem to think SIM could be faulty...voice and sms are fine...anyone else getting similar speed issues?
Just back from the UK. I’m on Vodafone and herself on An Post. No issues with both phones.
Abroad last few days in EU and no issues, worked grand. Been overseas in EU and UK (4 diff countries over last few weeks) and works perfectly each time.
The 25Gb roaming is nice, the only advantage to the downgrade last year
You could ask care@anpostmobile.ie , they're reasonably quick to respond, they should be able to check logs to see if any flags were raised with your roaming connection. They had an issue back on the 20th March where data connections here were denied though calls/text were fine, they responded to me that it was an IT issue. Sometimes popping sim out and in can reset missing AP settings.
I was connected to Vodafone UK & Spain. Was showing 4g but when you tried to access data it kept saying there was no internet connection. Getting 1Mbps download speeds. It was very frustrating. At times it would take 10 mins to connect.
Briefly, in the Netherlands a few months back my data was dismal on arrival, but I quickly established that I had been connected to T mobile, iirc, I manually scanned and found Vodafone, connected and was flying after that.
Has anybody had any roaming issues lately? Have been in the UK & Spain the past few weeks and data has been almost unusable. Very low speeds on both occasions. Frequently had to toggle airplane mode to try reconnect. Work phone is VF and that connects no problem with decent speeds. Worked fine last year using the same iPhone. Only difference would have been the iOS updates.
It won't happen to prepaid as people will start changing plus people will have auto topups arranged.
I don’t think PM could up the price before providing 5G. After all this increase is meant to be due to investment in their networks.
Captive market in Ireland, with weak consumer oversight, protection. I don't buy the smaller market economy of scale. They are all global companies.
Will this filter through to AP I wonder. Some of the increases are outrageous. 3 applying inflation, PLUS 3% year on year. The telcos have looked at the crisis mega profits made by the energy companies, the big retailers like Tesco, and now the hospitality sector, all gouging, and have decided to have a bit of that. Energy is a tiny part if running a mobile network, their running costs have increased marginally, but hey, why waste a crisis when you can line the pockets of shareholders.
Hi
is there anyone other there that just can't get their call waiting working. I have been with An Post Mobile a while and just can't get it sorted. I have enabled and disabled it via normal settings and codes. I have rang support but no avail!
I have tried it on different handsets but cannot get it sorted!
Thanks for your help.
I agree. They need to leverage the Vodafone infrastructure in their plans. Otherwise they are no different than anyone else and slightly worse value that the competition.
They need to offer 5G from the comments on their facebook ad. No reason why VF can't give them 5G
An post mobile have in effect priced themselves out of their own market for new customers while at the same degrading existing customers plans so that the competition are better value.
I imagine it will stop making enough money to make the business worthwhile.
I wish there was some competition in the Energy sector. Electric still stubbornly 46c/Kwh, but that's for another forum.
It was never going to gain much traction when all the other mnvo's had much more competitive pricing. Even 3 were offering the "3 Hero" pay as you go plan on and off over the past while that offered much more.
I've noticed their 18 euro ads have now largely been replaced by 15 euro. Obviously their sales plan didn't go well and not many changed plus it didn't attract new customers. I wonder how long til the 15 allowance goes up to 50Gb again?
Glad to see their plan change/money grab didn't go to plan to be honest. If they left us 15 euro people on 50Gb, I'd have wishes them well
I assume I could change to 18 for a month, then back to 15 next month based on my top up amount?
From support;
Thank you for contacting An Post Mobile customer care. There is currently an issue with mobile data all across the network. This issue has been logged with our IT department. We hope to have this resolved as soon as possible. Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
glad it wasn't just me. Driving from Dublin to Kerry and lost signal just after 2pm. Thought it was phone, switched it off and on, only got updates when I came into home broadband. Hopefully its sorted soon, this is becoming a regular thing.
No harm sending off an email to CS to moan, see what responses we get. Usually they're honest with their issues
Same here and Vodafone phone working fine. Data is back as an icon but no connection.
