Tesla Vision is not helping much. I would disable it if not for some other users of the car. I have both USS and Vison Teslas and have to say the vison one is pretty bad. For example when reversing sometimes I go with the rear over the kerb. The USS beeps you and then the beeping dissaper as the kerb is under the sensor. If another beeping session starts it means you're approaching an obstacle. The Vision would scream at you to stop even if it displays the kerb under the boot. If a real obstacle appears Vision will not tell you as it is already screaming at you to stop for no good reason. Having said that the cameras are pretty good and after few tries you'll get use to.
Anyone using the Tesla mobile charger at 32amp instead of a dedicated wall mounted ev charger?
Just looking at the Telsa website, 40 or so Y's coming soon, are those canceled orders?
Any chance of another sale?
I'm not too concerned about the USS thing. For years I drove camper vans with no sensors, cameras or even back windows. I'm used to using mirrors and just learning when the back end is near something. The front is covered by my vision, which I would trust over Tesla vision any day. I just hope the mirrors are good enough.
I still have a set of ultrasonic sensors that I bought for our last camper, I never bothered to fit them.
The three reverse cameras are excellent. I've come from a 3 with sensors to a Y without and it's fine.
I did for a year.
Did you need to get an electrician wire up and external plug and add a higher rated mcb? Is there any downsides to such a setup?
Side mirrors are a little small for me but aerodynamics probably influenced the shape/size. All the tech makes them a little less relevant anyway.
You will need a 40a RCBO in the consumer unit, 6mm Sq. cable to the point of charging and then your commando socket.
I assume you have the 32a capable UMC from Tesla and adaptor?
I had the provisions put in before buying a charger.
I have nothing yet, not even the car. Just an April 25 to May 10th edd.😁 I used your referral so hopefully I'll get 1k credit on pickup.
Thanks for the additional info. I'm seriously considering this setup as I can't seem to justify the nearly €1k for a Zappi. I intend on delaying the wall mounted charger until I decided on a solar set up.
What did it cost you for the 40a rcbo, socket and installation?
Would the fitting of non OEM sensors impact the Tesla warranty?
I’d hate to find out. Generally I’d say no, it doesn’t impact but with EV’s, any tampering with the electric system, no matter how minor could invalidate it, at lease for electrical issues.
Very very unlikely now at the start of the quarter, maybe an odd bargain at the end of this quarter but you won’t see the same error as last time I reckon. If ordering, don’t forget to use a referral :)
Cool, fair play.
Zappi can be fit from EasyGo for €799 after the grant now. Or the wallbox for €599 after the grant.
The cables, RCBO and commando socket may only cost €100-€150 plus the sparks to mess with the CU and run the cables.
But this set up means you can in theory add a charger to it at a later date.
Also, there’s an EO charger for sale on the EV group for €350.

For the EV nerds out there, this is a pretty interesting video : https://youtu.be/1efPb9aaL2Y
Was watching it earlier...some interesting stuff in the service menu!
Where can i find the detailed spec sheet of Model Y RWD which includes speaker config, suspension and etc.
I don’t think you will find this level of detail. Possibly related to the Tesla approach whereby they continue to evolve their cars and make changes without ever heralding these. The link below outlined all available information (read from tip to bottom. At bottom there are filters for each model.
https://www.tesla.com/en_ie/modely
You can also find more detailed information in the online manual (but not necessary specific to Model Y RWD configuration): https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/modely/en_us/GUID-E47C4A6D-528E-419C-8C57-FD3864644C34.html
Re the USS, if Vision isn’t trustworthy, it’s worse than having nothing at all.
Clearly the only viable solution is a hardware update.
It feels like we’ll look back on 2023 Tesla’s like we view Freemont M3’s - most people won’t care less, but it will matter to some.
I find tesla vision pretty accurate, definitely better than using nothing, especially important in the Y as it's a big unit.
Clearly 🤫?. Hardware doesn't work without software. Acknowledging views of others I have experienced Tesla both with and without USS and have to say for me its no big deal.. I don't understand all the fuss.. It's heading in the right direction and will most likely improve over time ...too early to conclude that hardware update is needed . After all this is just an aid to driving/parking
Hi
Has anyone and data as to the resale value of a MY LR Vs RWD?
I have both on order, RWD has a vin, no vin yet for LR.
Theres a €7.5k difference (well, €6.1k as I went for blue colour).
Would you really get a much better resale of the LR in say 4-5 years time?
Would you see the €6k difference then do you think?
Torn between which to go for. Both are amazing cars.
Thanks
More than likely not, but only a hunch, nothing to base it on. Normally a lower priced model will suffer less depreciation, but who is to know. Even if the LR does have higher depreciation than the RWD at least you will have had the pleasure of the extra performance, range and 4 wheel drive.
There is no data as RWD Mod Y have just hit the market (earliest delivery Q4 2022 of Q1 2023) ...so any views are likely to be speculative and not based on reliable data.
You shouldn’t be thinking about it that way.
Think about if that extra is worth it to you while you own it.
When I bought an Evo 5, I didn’t think, would I be better with the 1.6 petrol. Or the M3, I didn’t think, maybe I’ll get the 320i.
The increases in buying, maintenance, running costs were worth it for me.
Once your selling, you just have to wait for a buyer that appreciates that too.
Could be dead tomorrow. Enjoy.
This.
No Model Y RWD’s were delivered until January 2023. No data is available.
Hah hah! Very true! Thanks! 😂
What would be the time between when you have to pay for the car and when you actually get to pick it up? Thinking of getting one but I would need to sell my current car to help fund the model Y and don't want to be renting a car for too long.
Couple of days before delivery is generally fine, know a few people who paid the week of collection
