I wear transition lenses which react to the amount of light on them. They change to dark on days like you describe because it is still bright out. Had an idiot I worked with go on about why I was wearing shades inside by the time he finished his rant they returned to clear from the 1 minute they take to change.
There are actual measurements of light and the glasses react to a set level. Driving in cars with sunglasses on with similar weather can because the shine off the road along with how bright it actually is. Polaroid lenses help for that at night too
Maybe you have perfect eyesight but when you have to wear glasses anyway you can take advantages of that by using transitions,tints, UV protection, etc... Glaucoma is a lot more common than most people are aware and often missed by sufferes. Basically you maybe calling people "tosser" because they have an illness,you aren't aware of.

I can see for miles but up close can't read print clearly and as I have to see the hidden bad stuff in various supermarket items I (and my oh) have to go around checking the back of stuff or end up having to bring it back.
You will understand when you, some day have to do that too.
Otherwise I don't need glasses at all, except sunglasses which I wear when outside. But I can relate to people who need to wear shades even on dull days because at risk of macular degeneration.
Point is noone here knows why some people do this and others do that.
You might think you do and make a judgement about them, but you may probably be wrong and just end up looking like a tosser yourself!
Glare can happen on a dull day when driving and can be dangerous, I wear sunglasses with polarising anti glare protection

If you have ever suffered from a migraine you’d understand - glare can be a real trigger for some people. I’d have an instant headache on those glare days with out my sunglasses - I even wear them in the rain 😂

Think one of my sons had a magnifying glass from a spy kit years ago. We used it in the kitchen to check cooking instructions until somebody dropped it.
