RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Just got the feeling it was to show Glen was from an "untouchable" family.....if Glen gets killed it might be the start of another "war"
The man is a fiend
Certain families do that kind of thing in Longford, it’s a brazen “ I do
what I want and take what I want “
Is it possible too that Viking just can’t do it so Anthony steps in?
Or fight breaks out with something happening to Anthony which will accelerate tension between everyone in the family
Fella looks a right little wet wipe, 'untouchable family' .......'I said I wanted crisps' 🤣
Tbf I'd raid the alcohol section if I could walk out with anything I wanted
To the international audience it must seem us Irish must be fearless that we can do a free shop anytime we wish
Well we did get a reaction from Jimmy this week when he found out his son was involved he need's to be a bit more direct like Michael in this if he doesn't want his family involved.
She wasted a Euro though because she was too lazy to bring back the trolley.
A man of fiendish virtues.
We'll see how tough he is when it comes to the crunch! 😁
G
Was he the little wing man in Sing Street. Full cast list isn’t on IMDb.
Yes and that's all I think of every time I see him.
as someone who laughed at this show from the very start, i think the last 2 episodes have been very watchable.
I think its probably the "Bren effect" , and it has kicked off the show.
Still a lot of weak spots (I cringe EVERYTIME at Jimmys 'loose eyes' when they appear to lose focus and just go all 'dazey' )
But it has really improved, with some nice threads appearing...
Anthony - will he do the hit?
Amandas case -
Bren Vs everyone -
Frank - losing his mind, or will he find god and turn bren in?
Michael - seizures kill him?
Jimmy - i dont really care what happens ......
Eric - will deffo get killed.
S2 is much better than S1 but the bar was very low. While some of the performances are good, Amanda and Frank (kind of like Viking too), some of them are terrible. Anna, Anthony and Nikita are shocking, wooden doesn't even come close. Kem is also awful.
Bren has definetely added to it, but I think there is a danger of him over playing the part. It's enjoyable enough nonsense, not great but not particularly bad either.
I think this shows her weakness. She's always been Daddys girl and now knows he's at deaths door so she will try get blood for the brothers death to tell her father she has succeeded.
I’ve seen this show has been referred to as “The Irish Sopranos”.
Thats seriously overreaching!
A telecoms fella up the road tells me that the torrent site TorrentGalaxy has Kin on their TV page, a sign a show has made it to the mainstream.
A fiendishly villanous creep.
I think they had to go a little overboard with Bren's character considering how many people favored and still do favor him over the rest of the family. They had to make him such an egregious character in order for the viewers to dislike him just enough so they would be forced to root for the rest of the family(and even then, that still hasn't worked). Otherwise, most people, myself included, would want Bren to lead the family.
He wasn’t too decent when he killed the guy in the supermarket who pleaded with him as he had kids, his only crime, being a witness
I think you have it well summed up there, it looks to me like the budget for season 1 was very low and therefore the quality of actors and behind the camera was poor, it’s vastly improved for season 2 but the problem is they are stuck with the same actors apart from bringing in Bren, I am enjoying season 2 but some of the acting is awful and some of the characters are terribly miscast, kem Anna and Amanda wouldn’t look out of place on fair city and Michael looks like he should be selling ham for board bia, frank is a terrible character played by a terrible actor and although I seen emmet scanlon in other things and didn’t think he was too bad he’s horrifically bad in this, in all honesty Bren is carrying the show
These actors have been hired by some of the best directors and show runners on the planet. They are not cheap. There’s no great change in budget, but a definite change in pace.
I like how you say that some actors have been miscast and then proceed to list the entire cast except Bren. If you think all these actors are rubbish then maybe you won't like the show regardless of the "budget." Just a thought.
Bren is so over the top it makes it farcical.
Just some clarification here. The character of Bren, played by Francis Magee, was in Season 1 too in prison. Obviously he is much more to the fore now.
I binge watched Identity yesterday. It was a short lived (6 eps) UK police procedural from about 10 years ago starring Aiden Gillen.
An OK show I thought but the passion and energy Gillen brought to his role in that really made me sit up and take notice, he clearly loved that role.
I see none of that with him in Kin, maybe the script isn't doing him any favours but I don't see any of the enthusiasm or excitement he had in earlier roles :(
I don’t think those actors are rubbish but I don’t think they are great either and are very miscast, I only listed half the cast, Maria Doyle Kennedy is a great actor and plays the part of birdie well, vikings missus also plays the part well and the henchmen are well cast too although I’m not sure about the rival dealer who does his meets in a crèche
He’s playing an entirely different character. Smart and calculating but downtrodden and overwhelmed by his antagonistic brother.
To be fair, what do expect him to do with a character as bland as Frank? What passion is he going to bring to a character that only mopes around and stands there most of the time?
