Should we not increase the price limit to €3k to get some activity again? Theres been about 10 years worth of inflation since the thread was started.
Would love to see the Luxobarge thread active again too.
That’s a good shout. A lot traditional of traditional bangernomics are at least €2k now.
Bought this before Christmas and put it through the test the other week with no trouble (apart from advisory on tyres). Only on 28k miles
Honest looking car. Great find.
Want
407 for less than 2k. 2.0 diesel.
NCT is up in July though so it could probably go through again this month (if you could get a date)
Big comfortable bus. Not a lot goes wrong with them. Heater box flaps can break and it will blow cold
air constantly at your feet which will drive you mad.

Only 2 weeks NCT on that guy unfortunately.
And if they can't be bothered to wash it for the photos I can't see them maintaining it too well.
The 1.6HDi engines need very very regular oil changes.
Like most for sale these days , little nct on them, excuse can't get booking. Agreed could have washed it.
The chancers don’t bother dropping the price compared to tested cars either.
Nice Black 06 Saab 93 with fresh nct, mileage what you'd expect for 06. I nearly bought one last year but decided on a passat in the end for a cheap auto. Anyone have good/bad experiences with these
I had a 2005 manual one for arond 2 years. I think it had around 180,000km on it.
Watch out for a clicking noise when testing the air con/fans. It's a tiny little wheel inside a box that the cogs break in. It drove me bananas so bought the bit on ebay for €1.50 and spent an hour fitting it.
The only other quirk it had was that the speedo would stick, usually at 50 or 100kph. A quick on/off with the battery reset it. It wasn't worth replacing the ecu I think it was.
Drove it Cork to Donegal a good few times with no issues, averaged around 45mpg on the long run as well.
Quirky but I liked it. I only changed as I got promoted in the job I was in at the time and had to switch to diesel for the fuel card.
Can reach 40mpg when used wisely. Can also be mapped from 150hp to 220hp which is insane. Same engine as in the aero.
Ive had 5 of these 93's over the years and they are a solid safe car.
Good power when mapped but still a heavy car to drive around. MPG not bad if you can take it easy. Comfortable and safe bus
Another NCT sailed through without any fuss..€1.3k Celica picked up in Sept. 2020. Nearly 30k miles put up on it since then. I've neglected it a bit recently and I'm getting bored and annoyed with it . But I still can't quite part with it.
Going by done deal you’ll easily double your money on that celica TommyGun2017
Big old comfortable bus:
Merlin Car Auctions
What will it go for?
I'd be interested to know myself. Few lights on the dash, it is in the old tax bracket
and they are unpopular. But in the current climate it would not surprise me if it went
for crazy money.
Another one of these unusual machines. Nearly a year’s NCT and not mad money either €1,550

Hi folks
Currently driving a 2009 civic diesel
Looking to buy a luxury car from say 2009 onwards
Looking for reliability
Comfort
Great value
What would you recommend buying
What the old saying? ‘fast, reliable, cheap. Pick two.’
@DARK-KNIGHT not sure what kind of car you looking for. Saloon, hatch, estate. Auto, manual. Petrol, diesel
Edit... Price price price
He did mention luxury car but most luxury cars are not great value these days. There is a sub 5k luxobarge thread on here too but it's dead for ages because there simply isn't any value in that end of the market anymore. The typical high motor tax on a luxury car also doesn't really qualify it as a bangernomics candidate either.
Gs450h but you'll pay well for a good one
Lexus RX 400h. With the €333 tax on it. I have one with 5 seats. Insurance is about €600 p.a. and it's as comfy a car as you'll get. Plenty of power when needed and does an average of 9l/100km. I've been as low as 7.8l/100km cruising at 110 km/h on motorways.
Mega reliable, costs almost nothing in mechanicals apart from the oil, filters etc., though it goes through suspension parts fairly quickly.
